MecArmy X7S Flashlighter

If someone ever asks you if you've got a light, as an EDCer your first reaction might be to reach for your flashlight. But a proper lighter as a source of fire is also a useful tool for everyday carry, even if you don't smoke. Whether you carry one for your daily habits or emergency situations, a dedicated lighter can still take up precious pocket space. That's why the MecArmy X7S is a bright idea: it's a modular pocket tool that combines a lighter, a flashlight, and a storage capsule that stays compact and consolidated.

The MecArmy X7S is a combination LED flashlight, lighter, and dry storage container. The light itself features a 130 lumen CREE XP-G2 LED that can throw light out to around 193 feet. Easy one-handed twist activation turns the light on and controls its output from an 8-lumen Low mode to its highest setting. The integrated 10180 li-ion battery lasts six hours on the Low setting and conveniently recharges via micro-USB.

The X7S lighter resembles a trusty peanut lighter, designed for use with liquid fuel and measures in at a mere 2” long with the cap attached. The storage area is just big enough for pills or a spare battery. And because the body is made out of precision CNCed 304 stainless steel featuring IPX8 water resistance, you can feel confident that it can withstand the elements.

The best part about the X7S is that it features a modular design that lets you assemble it into the configuration that best suits your needs. You can screw together all of the components to create a tool that can fit in the palm of your hand. Or, you can even keep everything separate and carry each module independently. Pioneer Matter Wallet

While the rest of us are looking forward to new gear in 2018, the future-forward gear makers at Pioneer are debuting a wallet collection that looks straight out of 2049. Dubbed the 10XD ONYX Collection, it gets its name from its unique, blacked-out material made with fibers 10X stronger than steel by weight. This ultra-durable material and other advanced manufacturing techniques come together in a new style: the Matter Wallet. It's a minimalist wallet based on a slim cardholder silhouette with enough storage to carry cash without the need for a bulky, dedicated billfold compartment.

The Matter wallet's slimness isn't just a result of its design alone. It's the ripstop material—ultra high molecular weight polyethylene—that provides durability and structure to the wallet without the need for much bulk or extra material. Besides being durable, it's also lightweight, waterproof, and abrasion resistant.

Materials aside, the Matter's pocket layout itself does a good job of balancing storage and low bulk. It's like a cross between a cardholder and a bifold with two vertically oriented card slots on either side for quick access. Behind those are pockets sized just large enough to accommodate once-folded cash or less frequently used cards. By eliminating a billfold section, the wallet can keep a trim 2.75” x 2.5” footprint when closed. And at just 1 oz., it's a solid middle ground for EDCers wanting a minimalist wallet that can still carry some cash.

You can pick up the Matter in the new black-on-black Onyx color way as well as the original black/white and blue/white versions at the link below.

Spyderco Lil' Native

It's one thing to EDC a knife that's easy on the eyes, but it's even better if its stylish design feels good in your hand, too. Blending function and form is one tricky balancing act that Spyderco gets right time and again. Their new Lil' Native takes one of their crowd-favorite EDC designs, the Native, and scales down the proportions while keeping its signature Spydero ergonomics at the forefront. Despite its smaller size, the Lil' Native represents a complete package for EDC, mixing gent's knife styling and practical upgrades to boot.

In the case of the Lil' Native, the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree: its overall silhouette and ergonomic shape that made the Native great haven't drastically changed. Its thick, leaf-shaped S30V steel blade still features a large thumbhole for deployment and finger choil for added control. This time around the blade measures 2.5” long overall, with about a 2” usable cutting edge. The slight curve on the blade makes that 2” feel longer in practice, which also ends in a defined tip for precise piercing. The blade's full flat grind makes it excellent for slicing and general EDC tasks, too.

Unlike its bigger brothers, the Lil' Native foregoes the lockback mechanism for Spyderco's high-strength compression lock on the back of the handle. The G10 scales keep the knife lightweight at just 2.5 oz and complement the handle's 4-finger grip ergonomics with added texture. Lastly, the Lil' Native opts for a sleeker, ambidextrous wire pocket clip for easy carry. For a more modern and EDC-friendly version of a classic knife, pick up the Lil' Native at the link below.
