Seiko 5 Sports x Worn & Wound 10th Anniversary LE SNK803

They say good things take time, and time is something both the Japanese watch manufacturer Seiko and watch enthusiasts at worn & wound take seriously. Our friends at worn & wound have been on the pulse of the watch scene for an entire decade now. To celebrate the milestone they’ve collaborated with Seiko and wound up with a gorgeous limited edition of a crowd-favorite daily driver in the watch and EDC scenes alike: the iconic Seiko 5 SNK803. It’s the same classic flieger look you know and love, presented with tasteful details and flourishes you’d expect from the experts at worn & wound.

This limited edition watch actually measures slightly larger than the popular 37mm models like the SNK803 and SNK809 to offer a bit more presence on the wrist at 39.4mm. This new stainless steel case features a mix of finishes, with brushed surfaces on the top, bezel, and crown, contrasted with polished sides. Compared to the original models’ uniformly blasted matte finish, the 10th Anniversary LE SNK803 uses these small details to make an impact thats greater than the sum of its parts.

You’ll find more of this interplay textures and visual contrast in the dial itself. The split design features an outer ring in a khaki color, as a nod to the original SNK803, with a diamond-like waffle pattern texture to it. The inner ring contrasts this in both color and texture as well, with a metallic charcoal gray in a sunburst-patterned texture. The juxtaposition of these colors and textures provide a sense of depth to the watch as well as improved legibility by leading the eye to focus on minute markers in the outer ring and hour markers in the inner circle. Rounding out the details are pops of color at 12 o’clock and on the seconds hand as well as a white-on-black day-date wheel at 3 o’clock displayed in either English or Japanese kanji.

Seiko’s tried-and-tested 4R36 automatic movement keeps this Japanese-made watch ticking. You can see it in all its glory thanks to a see-through caseback, finished with additional worn & wound commemorative branding as well as the number of the watch (limited to 1000 pieces). The watch is water resistant to 100M to handle dips and splashes during EDC use. This limited edition also comes equipped with two straps included: a rugged 2-piece nylon strap with leather backing and a custom ADPT mil-strap that’s made in the US.
