When heading into the field to collect mineral specimens, and other natural world wonders, it’s important to have small but reliable tools on-hand. You’ll always have shovels and picks and spray-bottles full of water but it’s critical to have items within reach. Measuring, observing, and recording specimen locations can be done easily with a small notebook and a trusty lightweight pen. Having a hank stuffed in your back pocket is useful for clearing dirt off finds or removing sweat from brows in mid-day heat. Don’t forget the little scale cube tucked into your pocket. You’ll be using that to give direction indicators to those that see your photos later.
