When it comes to making the most out of your keychain, it's all about the hook. Most keychain hooks, at best, do their job keeping your essentials close at hand. At worst, they're so poorly designed that they can damage your pockets or belt. For us EDCers, that simply won't do. So Handgrey put their years of experience and successful crowdfunded projects behind them to perfect the keychain hook with their latest product, the KIN. With its efficiency in its simplicity and metal that speaks for itself, the KIN doesn't just enhance your keychain's utility, but it elevates its aesthetic as well.

So how do you dress up something as simple as a hook? Titanium would be a good place to start. The EDCer's favorite metal offers unique properties that make it great for gear meant to be used every day, such as its strength in spite of its flexibility and its heavy resistance while remaining lightweight. That flexibility lends itself well to the functionality of KIN's Grade 5 titanium hook, since it's able to engage and disengage without ever losing its grip.

Handgrey also added a couple of thoughtful touches to the hook itself: a no-contact opening and slightly curved tip that ensures it doesn't rip your pockets to shreds over time, and a wide inner clearance for latching onto thicker objects. Since the hook rides deep, there are grooves on either side of the KIN that give proper purchase when pulling it from its attachment point. The keychain slot itself also shows off Handgrey's precision-cut ornamentation, slow-cut using EDM (electrical discharge machining) for precision even in the smallest spaces. While it doesn't add any functionality, it's something that will make onlookers do a double-take to see just how such tiny cuts are possible.

A simple hook with the right design goes a long way. The Handgrey KIN is already funded nearly six times over, with plenty of time for you to pledge for one of two styles and accessories at the link below.

This looks like an awesome pocket / belt clip. My only beef with the design is the weird decorative cut-outs inside the split ring loop. It looks like they could break off eventually, which could leave a rough spot inside the loop.
Agreed! Though I rather go the multitool route like multigrip or gerber!
