It's rare to find a chronograph you could call "minimalist." Extra sub-dials and markers tend to crowd and overwhelm the dial. MVMT's new Chrono is an exception. It offers typical chronograph features (a 60-second timer, a 60-minute timer, and 24-hour time) with a refreshing visual simplicity. At 45mm, its brushed stainless steel case provides enough wrist presence to make a statement, but not a loud one, thanks to MVMT's signature minimalist styling. There's an almost sterile look throughout: barely-there markers span the inner edge of the case, while subtle details like the hollowed-out sword hands, cut-out MVMT logo, and offset date window complete its modern look. Each piece in the collection sports a Japanese miyota quartz movement and water resistance up to 5 atm. Check out the full collection of different colorways and strap options over at MVMT's site below.

Love the MVMT brand

I like the overall design but why make this a chronograph? Without any indexes on the small dial you literally cannot read the elapse time. You cannot even tell which is the 60-second, 6-minute and 24-hour timers. I challenge anyone to read off the elapse chronograph time on the watch pictured above. If they removed the chronograph this would be a very well designed minimalist dress watch. The blank indexes offends my engineering sensibilities I guess because it fails at its intended purpose. The small dials may as well be painted on like a cheap fashion watch.

Also if you are going to put a date window on an all black dial then spend the extra money on a white on black date wheel instead on the glaring black on white one they used. For a true minimalist design they should have left the date window off entirely.

A la Vestal Plexi. A smart, sleek look.
