It was, when purchased, the brightest single-cell in this small form factor, which could also take regular AA batteries (besides the 14500 cells that give the high, 700 lumen output). The construction is better than expected, and the faux-chrome finish is remarkably scratch resistant. It's tough enough for my use and has good water-proofing. The clip is flimsy and a little short, but effective. The output is the closest I've found to a larger output battery, like an 18650, with the option to still use a standard AA size in a pinch (albeit at a lower maximum output). The only real drawback (and it's a big one for me) is the switch: it's so small and not very proud compared to the body of the light that it's hard to find by touch (which one has to do when it's dark), and it's very light engagement, so it's very easy to turn on accidentally and waste the battery. Thankfully it can be locked out by holding the switch down for five seconds. It's also worth noting that the light gets quite hot when run for any period of time on the high setting with a 14500 cell installed. Overall my need for an extreme output, small form factor, AA compatible pocket light made this the only available option and I've found it well up to the task.
