Trending: Olight S1 Baton

It's a blast from the past for Torch Thursday, as Olight's original S1 Baton climbs the charts once again. Despite its tiny footprint, it's still able to offer the power and features of modern lights twice its size. With an XM-L2 LED powered by a single CR123A or RCR123A battery, the S1 puts out 500 lumens for up to 120 yards. On the low end, it can keep a 0.5 lumen glow running for an impressive 25 days. It achieves its 2.4 inch length by using shorter TIR (total internal reflection) optics, providing a floody beam ideal for bathing wider areas with even light. The side switch, pocket clip, and magnetized tail work to make the most of the light's compact size in and out of the pocket. It's a solid light light still worth carrying today, and you can pick one up at the link below.

StatGear Hygiene Hand

Now more than ever it’s important to avoid touching high-contact surfaces like door handles, elevator buttons, and payment terminals with your bare hands. That’s because all it takes is accidentally touching your face to put you at risk of infection. And access to hand sanitizer or a hand washing station can be limited in these trying times. The team at StatGear knows this firsthand as they’re based in New York City, an area hit especially hard by the coronavirus outbreak. That’s why they’re returning to Kickstarter with their latest creation, the Hygiene Hand. It’s a clever keychain solution that can help you handle high-contact surfaces while minimizing exposure to germs and viruses. If you’re looking for ways to switch up your EDC to protect yourself and others while practicing social distancing and quarantining, adding the StatGear Hygiene Hand to your kit can come in, well, handy.

StatGear has a long history of developing and delivering quality EDC products via crowdfunding, and their new Hygiene Hand was developed as a result of their company being located right at the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak in New York City. The StatGear Hygiene Hand is a keychain tool made out of brass, which is inherently antimicrobial unlike other materials like stainless steel where viruses can thrive for days on end. You should still wash the tool, and your hands, thoroughly after use because it’s not an end-all and be-all solution to prevent you from getting sick.

But with the hook design of the Hygiene Hand, you can at least avoid direct contact with door handles and call buttons. And because the tool has a stylus tip, you can use it on touchscreens like on ATM and point of sale terminals when you have to go out to run errands for yourself and the ones you love. The StatGear Hygiene Hand’s utility isn’t just limited to a pandemic situation, either. You can keep it with you for the years to come when you just don’t want to touch surfaces in grimy situations. And because the brass composition of the tool will develop an attractive patina over time, you can see it as a memento to remind yourself that you got through such a momentous time in human history by having the right everyday carry tools on hand.

To secure a Hygiene Hand for yourself today, you can make a pledge to StatGear’s fully-funded Kickstarter today at the link below.

Mystery Ranch Mission Hybrid

Mystery Ranch Mission Hybrid

A lot of bags claim to be the “one bag” you’ll ever need to travel with, whether for work, for play, or for everything in between. But when it comes down to it, many of those bags either don’t have the space or configuration features you need to keep everything organized while you’re on the move, or they’re far too big and cumbersome to bring on shorter trips. Leave it to the gear-savvy adventure seekers at Huckberry to find a bag that can fit the bill. Better yet, rather than finding the perfect bag, they went ahead and built one, tapping renowned outdoor and EDC bag makers Mystery Ranch for this special collaboration. They’ve just launched their travel solution two years in the making: the new Mission Hybrid. And to celebrate its debut, it’s available at a special discount.

In pursuit of pure versatility, the Mission Hybrid was designed to excel in three different carry configurations to handle all your travel and commuting needs. Its three-way design transforms into a backpack, a briefcase, or shoulder bag. It starts with the beefy padded adjustable backpack shoulder straps that were designed for your comfort in mind, not as a mere afterthought. Fully loaded, the bag rides comfortably on your shoulders, especially with the sternum strap snapped into place. And when you get to where you’re going, or you want to change up how you carry the bag, the straps tuck into a dedicated zippered pocket. From there, you can attach the padded shoulder strap to the sturdy D-rings on either side of the bag, or carry the entire package with the dual grip handles, just like a briefcase.

The versatility and comfort in carry that the Mission Hybrid offers you is extremely important, because you can seriously pack this bag chock full of a weekend’s worth of gear with just under 40 liters of space inside and multiple organization spaces to keep everything in order. But even with that generous amount of space, the bag itself is still carry-on compliant and only 4.5 pounds in weight when fully unloaded. And because it’s made out of abrasion-resistant and brush-waxed 1000D water-resistant nylon, it’s as robust as many heavy duty tactical and outdoor bags while looking the part of a more traditional, heritage type canvas bag you can take anywhere.

For the items you need immediate access to while you’re on the move, there’s the external Mystery Ranch hallmark three-way zip pocket, which is further secured with a magnetic Fidlock buckle. You can spend the time and calmly unbuckle and unzip the compartment, or you can rip it open with the buckle when you’re in a hurry to show your travel documents or train tickets. And on that flap, you’ll find a removable hook-and-loop logo patch for further customization. The main compartment features a YKK-zippered clamshell opening and two see-through packing areas for easy identification of clothes and small toiletry items. There’s a dedicated boot pocket (That’s right: boots. Not just sandals or a pair of gym sneakers) to give you a safe and ventilated space to put a spare pair of shoes. And to keep your tech safe, there’s a fleece-lined tablet slot for smaller devices, and a dedicated padded laptop sleeve that’ll fit up to a 17" laptop safely and securely.

With its depth of competent carry options, tons of available organized space for all of your gear, and virtually bombproof construction, the Mystery Ranch x Huckberry Mission Hybrid is made to be your next EDC travel bag. With its years of design and rich feature set, you can really tell it’s made with the one-bag community in mind. You can pick up the new Mission Hybrid exclusively from Huckberry at a discounted price for a limited time at the link below.

It's never a bad time to carry a good pen, especially one designed to take on the toughest everyday challenges. From tackling harsh writing deadlines to punching through glass in cases of emergency, the Impromptu—true to its name—prepares you for the unexpected, climbing our charts for Tactical Tuesday. As a jotter, it uses weather-resistant Rite in the Rain ink cartridges that write in all conditions, deployed with a reliable push-button clicky switch. Its machined steel body is thick and beefy, but apply force to its glass-breaking tempered tip and you can thrust through any trouble. Deep grooves in the body help with grip, and a Cerakote ceramic coating keeps its finish durable and resilient. Its stainless steel pocket clip also lets you easily carry the Impromptu for EDC.
