As the weather gets warmer you’ll most likely be spending more and more time outdoors. Whether that means hiking trails, climbing mountains, or enjoying a hard-earned vacation on the beach, the key to achieving your summer goals is staying hydrated. If you don’t already have a water bottle there’s no better time to add one to your EDC because it’s only going to get hotter. In this guide we’ll look at a few of the best water bottles to help you fight thirst. There are water bottles that will keep your liquids at a certain temperature, some that will keep your water tasting clean, and still others that are just easy to carry and weigh next to nothing. Whatever you’re looking for, we got you covered.

Camelbak Chute

The 750mL (25oz) Camelbak Chute is an option that checks all the boxes when it comes to finding the perfect water bottle. It’s made of BPA-free plastic and has an angled spout that makes it easier to avoid spills while drinking. The hook that’s attached to the cap makes it easy to attach to packs and the cap itself locks into place when you’re not using it with a simple half-turn. All this at a price that won’t hurt your wallet.

Klean Kanteen

The 800mL (27oz) Klean Kanteen is a tried and true water bottle that’s found its way into the packs of plenty of EDCers over the years. You get what you pay for, a solid stainless steel water bottle made for the grind of everyday life. It has a BPA-free cap, a stainless steel bottom so you don’t get any lingering residue tainting the flavor of your next sip, and it’s also easy to clean. The cap seals tight to prevent leaks and it comes with a small loop so you can attach it to a carabiner when you don’t have room in your pack.

Hydrapak Seeker

Calling all adventurers, you might want to add the Hydrapak Seeker water bottle to your shortlist. Not just because it’s made of abrasion-resistant TPU, or because you can carry 3L of water, but because it collapses down when empty so you can store it in the included 4x4 carrying pouch. You can also screw in a compatible water filter and attach it to your pack thanks to three fabric loops that make it easier to carry.

Takeya Glass Bottle

No one likes reaching water that tastes like plastic after a few weeks of use. For a smooth sip every time you might want to check out the Takeya glass bottle. Some people prefer glass bottles because they keep your water tasting fresh and clean, and that holds true here. The 650mL (22oz) Takeya glass bottle is wrapped in a silicone sleeve that protects it from bumps and scratches, and it also has a small see-through section so you know exactly how much water you have left. There’s also a small hook so you can attach it to your pack when your hands are busy.

Yeti Rambler

One of the best-known water bottles in the EDC community is the YETI Rambler. The Rambler is made from stainless steel, so you can be confident to haul it around, even outdoors. Plus it can hold up to 530mL (18oz) of liquid, keeping it warm or cold for hours at a time thanks to its double-wall vacuum insulation. It fits most standard-sized cup holders so whether you’re tossing this into your pack or going on a road trip carrying it will be no trouble at all.

A5 Memo Paper Bottle

The A5 Memo Paper water bottle might not look like your average bottle, but it’s still one of the better options out there when it comes to ease of carry. The unique shape of this bottle may not be for everyone, but if you can’t carry a typical cylindrical bottle due to space then this is a clever alternative. It has a 420mL (14.2oz) capacity and is BPA-free so you’ll get clean-tasting water with every sip. Don’t expect to put this in your car's cup holder — instead, it can conveniently fit where other bottles can't thanks to its flat design.

A double wall vacuum insulated bottle means your cold drinks will stay cold for up to 24 hours, while hotter beverages will stay that way for about six hours. The bottle is also coated in a special Powder Coat that keeps condensation from forming, giving you a better grip throughout the day.

For the last few years I have been using the Avex FreeFlow insulated 24oz bottle. (I hear they were bought by Rubbermaid and are now branded under the Coleman line.) They are dishwasher safe and the top has a release in it for easy cleaning. I wouldn't trade it for any other bottle.

I'm a big fan of the stainless steel single walled Nalgenes. Indestructible, easy to clean and I can drop them on a fire or stove to boil water with no ill effects.

Very excited you included the Yeti Rambler bottle in this year's article. Great work!
Justin Metcalf ·
yeah and they can hold a ton more than that if you buy a bigger size. the article is a bit strangely worded.
James R. ·
Not to be "that guy", but Hydro Flask's powder coating has nothing to do with condensation. All double-walled vacuum water bottles share that characteristics. It's the nature of the vacuum construction.
