With the coming of spring and wet weather in general, you’re going to want to keep your EDC safe and dry with waterproof and water-resistant bags. That applies whether you’re a photographer looking to protect your gear, a student who's never without their laptop, or a bike commuter running daily essential errands with a life that’s constantly on the move. After all, the gear you put inside your pack is usually more expensive than what you carry in your pockets (think expensive electronics and other valuables). And what good is a spare set of clothes after a workout if they're already soaked through with rain? If the contents of your bag aren’t protected against a little water, you’re one April shower away from a really bad day.

There’s a lot of things that make for a good everyday carry waterproof and water-resistant bag. One of the biggest factors is the materials used in the manufacturing of the bag: they tend to be either inherently waterproof thanks to their technical properties or coated and impregnated with waterproofing compounds that keep moisture out. The hardware used to open and close the bags is also an important consideration, since you want special sealing zippers that stand up to the weather, paired with flap covers or roll-top closures that do their part to keep the rough elements out. And some waterproof bags are designed well enough that they can actually be submerged underwater completely.

So if you’re looking for a new waterproof or water-resistant bag to keep the gloomy days of rain away, we’ve put together 20 of our favorite bags for you to choose from. We’ll explain what sets them apart from your standard bag, and why they deserve to carry your EDC. The good news is, that they run a wide gamut of styles and features, so you can pick what suits your needs, and make upgrades to your current kit where needed.

Don’t forget Mission Workshop bags. Built insanely tough and the Arkiv model is modular. Been using it for about three years. Love it!
Don't you mean Water-Resistant? I don't know if any of these bags are truly "Waterproof." These are not bags you can submerge in water. At least I don't think.

Before you say this is just semantics, this does matter!
Why is Code10 Bags not on this list?
I miss HPA molledry :-) My favourite.
Surprised that the GORUCK GR1 isn't on there.
Mystery ranch is a bit of hit and miss. Very good quality. I have had my 2 day assault pack since 2011. I also have 2 Thule packs for civilian travel, and that includes the majority of my toiletry bags as well as electronic bags too. Good quality stuff. Most my other packs are 5.11, that I have had for years. If I invest in a pack again, it would definitely be a roll top type, but it would not be for typical EDC stuff.

My top 3 and usual carries are:
1. TAD Fast Pack. Daily truck pack for me. Keep enough stuff to get home, temporary shelter in small form factor and survival stuff (water filtration, fire, etc etc)
2. 5.11 Moab 10. Keep all the quick access stuff, extra mags, extra guns, extra first aid, Electronics, spare batteries, small solar usb stuff. Sits on my passenger seat or closer.
3. Go Ruck GR3 and kit bag. At home. Quick grabs in the mud room. Without a doubt the easiest to use and amazing quality. Holds everything else I would need to set up camp as well as some luxuries.

The rest of my packs are kind of a mixture. A couple 5.11's, a couple Maxpedition's, the Thule civilian packs I mentioned... I honestly have not bought a pack in over 5 years. I was issued an amazing duffle bag by uncle sam, then when I got out I purchased a Gen II MARPAT ILBE (Marine - without a doubt the best rucksack ever made) and they hold everything else. I have done drills, and after making it home, it would take me 10-15 minutes to be confident in grabbing stuff and disappearing. And that is pretty much stuffing the truck. I've gotten pretty good at using what nature provides, but far from being confident enough to share most of it. YouTube is helpful ;) I did not go this route in the military, but I wish I would have.
These types of posts are the reason why I always come to your blog and read some beautiful posts. I highly appreciate your hard work for making this well-developed post. I love all the bags designs and pictures with its advantages you shared. Well, I also know a website called www.differio.com. They sell cool backpacks for men at very cheap rates. I & My friends always purchased many clothing and items from this online store as they provide the high-quality products form thousands of brands with fast delivery and free shipping charges. So, I want to thank the admin for sharing a very nice post and I’m looking forward to more post like this.

Keep posting good stuff. Cheers.
Once you get a bag made by Savotta you never look back. They are SUPER durable, good looking and will last a lifetime. Sure - you pay more - but since it will last decades it's a bargain. I now buy all my packs and equipment from varusteleka.com and they ship to the US for $10 in less than a week.
What’s a good decent roll top back pac for a high schooler. He likes the timberland bag he has but it only lasted a year. Any suggestions?
Timbuk2 Tuck Pack, highly recommend.
I have the Mixed Works Falcon and love it
What kept the topo mountain bags off the list? Just curious.
How come no one mentiones probably the best roll top backpack out there. IMHO Ikea Forenkla 35l rolltoo is one of the best, if not the best backpack I've owned. It's dirt cheap and unbelievably sturdy. Combined with a raincover perfect backpack for everything.
