Butterfly knives (also known as balisongs) are pretty cool, but it’s really important to know how to use and flip them properly and safely before you even think about carrying them every day. And finding a good training knife is hard, since it seems there’s only super-expensive models and then cheap, flimsy offerings that might actually hurt you more than if you flipped the sharpened real thing instead. Now's the chance to pick up Boker’s line of balisong trainers available at the BladeHQ anniversary sale for a song at $29.99 right now. While you aren’t going to accomplish any cutting or slicing tasks with it, you can get some training in or have some fun flipping it around without hurting yourself.

The AXIS-lock ensures zero blade play during even serious hard use, and the full-size 5.76" ergonomic handle lets you get a complete grip on the blade for total control. With a design by Lucas Burnley and premium Bohler M390 stainless steel for its 3.35" blade, you already have a recipe for success with this EDC knife. But the fact that it’s marked down 50% off and just $129.99 almost makes picking this up a no-brainer. Its wharncliffe-style blade is well-suited for more than your average daily cutting and slicing tasks, but there’s also enough of a point to pierce through most anything you need. And because the design of the knife allows for a liner-lock that has the reliability of a framelock but giving you G10 scales on both sides, you have complete ambidextrous control over the cut even if things get wet during use.

Awesome tip-- thanks for sharing! I just grabbed one of the Boker Kalashnikov Autos. They have them on sale in a number of different colors and finishes, not just the white handle. Quite a few more traditional choices for the $35 price, and the traditional black & beadblast is even cheaper at $30.
