All too often we settle for heavy, cumbersome EDC bags as a compromise in pursuit of bombproof durability. But with the right design and material choices, you can get a daily pack that’s practically indestructible at a weight that tips toward the “ultralight” side of the scale. The new Ghostly x DSPTCH Ridgepack channels this barely there toughness in a timeless and familiarly fashionable silhouette with a futuristic material makeup. A collaboration years in the making, this isn’t the first lightweight EDC pack offering from the international music label, Ghostly. But the all-new Ridgepack is DSPTCH’s first bag to use NorthPak fabric: a high-tech, waterproof, recycled polyester pack fabric developed by the world’s leading laminated sailcloth manufacturer. The result is yet another utility-driven design that’s made in the USA with all the details you expect from the crowd-favorite gear manufacturer DSPTCH, finished with tasteful, stylish cues befitting a Ghostly collab.

The Ridgepack comes as a welcome complement to DSPTCH’s more popular military-inspired packs, measuring in at a compact 18L capacity in a casual yet capable bookbag silhouette. It’s sized just-right for a day’s worth of essential gear, including a laptop. The bag takes a minimalist approach to organization, with a mostly empty main compartment accessible by a full-length, U-shaped, dual-pull zipper as an ideal canvas for pouch organizer packing. At the top of the bag is a separate zippered pocket for stashing keys and frequently accessed gear. Last but not least, rows of webbing on either side of the pack offer additional mounting options for modular gear like pouches and tools.

This minimalist silhouette really lets the Ridgepack’s materials and hardware shine, in both function and form. The bag’s exterior boasts North Sail’s 400D NorthPak recycled poly for durability, weather resistance, and light weight, achieving a 1.5lb total weight. The fabric also features a subtle “X” pattern to it, providing some visual interest all over the otherwise discreet black silhouette. It’s visible on the inside of the pack as a blue grid for some added contrast, while DWR-coated 410D grey Nylon Packcloth lines the interior for increased visibility and further water resistance. Another way the Ridgepack seals out water to keep your essentials dry is through its use of YKK AquaGuard zippers for the main compartment, tucked under a “storm flap” of waterproof NorthPak material along its entire length.

The bag’s straps are not only adjustable for fit and comfort, but they’re also detachable, giving you the versatility of traditional on-the-shoulder backpack carry for balancing heavier loads or cross-body shoulder slinging for a nimbler EDC. Hits of lilac and lavender purple with subtle Ghostly branding on the custom zipper pulls and co-branded tag round out this special collaboration.
