My 8 Year Olds EDC

Teaching your child to be independent requires a measure of trust, and requires them to have the equipment and knowledge to do things themselves. It doesn't mean throwing them to the wolves, but by having them own and carry their own equipment - they can often be taught to solve their own problems as things come up. My 8 year old carries these items in her shoulder bag every day, and is becoming proficient in being independent in their use.
