Three things make for an ideal EDC backpack: tough construction to withstand extended use in any environment, enough storage to hold all your daily essentials, and quality-of-life features that make the pack great to use day in and day out. Ridge’s Weatherproof Commuter is designed to address all three needs to give you a durable everyday bag. Starting with its exterior, the Weatherproof Commuter comes with a waterproof 600D nylon shell, giving it a matte and sleek appearance that gives it versatility both at work and at play. The exterior treatment also provides excellent environmental resistance should you run into inclement weather, paired with YKK Aquaguard zippers to really keep the rain out.

The Commuter’s main compartment opens flat to access its 15L interior, where zip and mesh pockets provide organization for your gear, while a shock-resistant laptop compartment ensures the safety of your tech. Last but not least, some key features set the Commuter apart: it comes with a unique power bank pocket with an external USB port for when you need a quick way to top up, a hidden RFID-blocking pocket keeps important cards safe, and a luggage strap and water bottle holder give you extra carry options whether your commute finds you in the air or in long walks in the city.

You've probably seen a few knives out there billed as suited for EDC yet sporting a busy design with complicated ergonomics. They might look pretty in your hand, or in a display case, but can't help you get the job done when you need it. The uncomplicated design of the Summit has an understated elegance that makes it unique. At a length of 3.9 inches when closed, the handle gives you enough surface area to get a full grip without being too big for your pockets. Its design also makes it pair well with the Ridge Wallet, a big plus if you already EDC one.

And because the handle is made of grade 5 titanium, it's strong and durable while being ultra-resistant to corrosion. There's a notch in the handle that exposes the right-handed manual thumbstud opening for the blade. That notch makes identifying and manipulating that thumbstud an easy task, even in the dark. With one flick, the 2.75” D2 tool steel blade is revealed, and held in place by the titanium frame lock. The D2 steel provides excellent edge retention, and the drop-point design makes for a good all-around cutting tool for your daily tasks. When work is complete, you can close the blade up and make the Summit disappear into your pockets thanks to its stainless steel deep-carry pocket clip.

Nobody wants to open up their bag to see an explosion of shampoo and toothpaste, so a dopp kit is critical in ensuring your personal hygiene essentials stay in their place. Taking cues from the Weatherproof Commuter’s design, the Travel Kit has the same matte and sleek look while making use of waterproof PVC tarpaulin shell and YKK Aquaguard zippers to keep potential liquid leaks in and water out. It’s a compact kit that measures 9“ x 7” x 3.25“, letting you integrate it with the rest of your travel pouches.

The main compartment opens flat to let you into the Travel Kit’s interior where breathable mesh zip pockets keep everything stowed while also letting you view their contents at a glance, and an extra StayDry exterior pocket adds even more protection for essentials that can’t afford to get wet, like bandages or medicine. Finally, a nylon handle lets you grab the Travel Kit and go when it’s time to pack up and head home.
