Something slim and sophisticated scales up the charts for this week’s Slicer Saturday, The CRKT LCK is a collaboration with gun company Ruger, and marries the tactical sensibilities of the latter with more current design trends for gentleman’s knives. The moniker stands for “Light Compact Knife” (a reference to Ruger’s LCP “Light Compact Pistol”) and at 2.6 ounces with a narrow 4.125"-long handle, it’s a perfectly pocketable option for EDC.

The glass-reinforced nylon scales mirror the grooves found on its namesake pistol, while a flipper tab provides quick deployment of the 3.3" drop point blade. The slender blade is made of 8Cr13MoV steel—more than capable of handling EDC cutting chores—and looks more like it belongs to a gentleman’s knife instead of a tactical flipper. An integrated finger choil lets you choke up on the blade for more control during detailed work, while also letting you conceal more of it when using the knife in public. A locking liner ensures its well tucked in when not in use, and a deep carry pocket clip lets you carry the LCK discreetly. The combination of practical features and sleek aesthetics also comes in at a very affordable price, making for an easy-to-use, easy-to-carry EDC knife that’s also easy on the eyes and pocket.

I love my CRKT Ruger LCK, it’s a staple of of my EDC rotation. Opens as smooth as my Ontario Rat. Came very sharp from the factory. And the blade is centered up nicely. I do wish it had a lanyard hole. Not everyone will like the GRN scales, the 8Cr13MoV blade steel, or the single position clip. Overall it’s a very good budget knife, both in terms of build quality and style. I picked mine up for $30 on sale at Scheels. Nick Shabazz (if you like EDC, you should watch his channel) did a great review on YouTube.
