It’s April of 2020 and the COVID-19 pandemic which has resulted from rampant spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus is going strong. Here in Canada, we have yet to experience the full brunt of its impact on our health care system and with due preparation and planning, hopefully we can mitigate the effects on our population. Our hearts go out to those in other districts who are already struggling hard in the trenches tending the critically ill, as well as all of those working to support the healers. Some of my medical students asked me for the short list of what is practical and important to carry when in the pre-assessment tents, attending in ER or on-call to the COVID isolation ward. In the load-out, I’ve presumed ongoing access to the basic disposable PPE items 1-3. I realize that this may not continue to be the case, and is already not true for some of us int he front lines. But...that’s a topic for another list.

Stay safe out there and be good to each other.
