The CRKT Ruger Crack-Shot Compact combines tactical aesthetics from firearms manufacturer Ruger and practical functionality thanks to input from veteran knifemaker Ken Steigerwalt. The visual inspiration is clear: the 4" long contoured glass-reinforced nylon scales share the same textured grip pattern found on Ruger’s American Rifle line, and the custom machined pivot screw is reminiscent of a six-shot revolver’s cylinder.
Beyond looks, the Crack-Shot delivers as a tactical knife thanks to its key features. CRKT’s Outburst spring-assisted opening system lets you whip out the 3.125" blade swiftly and smoothly. If you’re worried about safety or accidental in-pocket deployment, this knife reassures with its Fire Safe mechanism, which requires you to first press down on the spring-loaded thumbstud before the blade can even move. The blade itself is ground to a useful drop point design from 8Cr13MoV, a practical and easy to maintain stainless steel. A single-sided clip lets you carry this 3.8 ounce knife deeply and discreetly in your pocket or pack. All this makes the CRKT Ruger Crack-Shot Compact a feature-rich EDC knife deserving of this week’s Tactical Tuesday.
