Your watch is usually the most visible—and vulnerable—part of your EDC kit, and upgrading it usually means classier aesthetics, better performance, and increased durability. The Marathon GSAR, which stands for Government Search and Rescue, is a Swiss-made diver-style watch that’s built to perform anywhere you take it, whether that be an outdoor adventure or the battleground of boardroom meeting. This mil-spec mid-sized offering combines a 24-hour dial that borrows from the utilitarian field watch design, paired with a uni-directional rotating bezel commonly found on dive watches. Protected by a clear and tough sapphire crystal, the dial features tritium glass tubes and the brand’s own Maraglo luminescent markings to allow for legibility even in total darkness. Inside, a Swiss-made ETA 2824-2 keeps the GSAR ticking with a ~38-hour power reserve. The 41mm wide and 14mm thick 316L stainless steel case provides superior corrosion resistance and enough wrist presence without being too bulky. Combined with a large screw-in crown, this tough chassis provides water resistance that allows you to take it down to an impressive 1,000 feet (300 meters). If you’re looking for a significant upgrade in performance and functionality for your daily timepiece, check out the Marathon GSAR at the link below.
