At 41mm wide, the stainless case of the Seiko SNZH55 strikes a good balance of being compact enough for a wide variety of wrist sizes, yet bringing strong wrist presence to the table. This is aided by the distinct design of its dial and bezel. The “55” in the model name gives it the “Fifty-Five Fathoms” nickname, which in turn alludes to its inspiration, the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms from the 1960s. This modern take on that classic design offers similar aesthetics, a workhorse 7S36 in-house movement, a 41 hour power reserve, and a day-date window not found on the original. The dial features longer and more distinct batons for the hour markers, as well as longer minute markers to improve legibility.
