At 41mm wide, the stainless case of the Seiko SNZH55 strikes a good balance of being compact enough for a wide variety of wrist sizes, yet bringing strong wrist presence to the table. This is aided by the distinct design of its dial and bezel. The “55” in the model name gives it the “Fifty-Five Fathoms” nickname, which in turn alludes to its inspiration, the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms from the 1960s. This modern take on that classic design offers similar aesthetics, a workhorse 7S36 in-house movement, a 41 hour power reserve, and a day-date window not found on the original. The dial features longer and more distinct batons for the hour markers, as well as longer minute markers to improve legibility. A simple bezel reflects the iconic design of the original, and the water resistance rating at 100m surpasses even the fifty fathoms of its predecessor. The rest of the watch is a standard Seiko 5 affair: the aforementioned day-date complication, lumed hands, see-through caseback, and functional metal link bracelet. If you’re looking for a budget beater that can still turn the heads of watch enthusiasts, the Seiko SNZH55 is an easy choice. Check it out at the link below.

Great watch. Folks should check out the Wired article from September 2014 titled "You Can Mod This Seiko to Be Any Watch You Want It to Be"

A lot of great ideas for the Seiko 5 (including this watch). Personally, I've got a custom SNZH57 with the Fifty Five Fathoms mod and it is one of my favorite watches.
