If you’re new to EDC, there’s a big chance you’ve been recommended the Ontario Knife Company RAT II as a solid starter knife. It’s one of the brand’s most popular models for a reason, thanks in no small part to its excellent features at an affordable price. They’ve taken that philosophy of accessible workhorses to their new Wraith ICE. It’s one of their lesser-known models that gets a huge bump in the aesthetic department thanks to translucent scales. If you’re looking for something different for EDC while still keeping it affordable, like most of OKC’s knives, it’s worth a serious look.

While the Wraith ICE is positioned as a budget folder, there’s still a lot to like about the knife other than its handles or its price. You get a 2.6“ 1.4116 stainless steel blade with a slight recurve that’s ideal for slicing as a pocket folder, with a 57-59 HRC for ease of sharpening and maintenance. It’s deployed via ambidextrous thumb studs, with a back lock (that you can see!) taking care of lockup during use. It also comes with a reversible slim pocket clip, giving full ambidextrous operation to suit any EDCer.

And of course, there are the handles. With its use of plastic you get a cleaner see-through profile closer to white compared to the more greenish tinge of natural G-10, and it keeps the Wraith ICE super lightweight at 1.5 ounces. These handles let you have a view of the blade while stowed, the lockback mechanism in action, and gives the knife its one-of-a-kind look.

With solid features, a design you won’t find anywhere else, and the affordable cost of ownership, for your next EDC knife, the choice is clear. Pick up the OKC Wraith ICE at the link below.
