Most modern multi-tools come with a couple drivers built-in, usually a Phillips and a flathead. While that might get the job done for many general tasks, they fall short when it comes to specific and precise needs. If you’re someone who spends a big part of their day around electronics, doing small repairs, or have a hobby involving hardware, a dedicated screwdriver kit can be your biggest ally. And with their compact but comprehensive collection of features, iFixit’s new portable driver kits are a solid choice, especially for EDC.

For this release, iFixit gives you the option to choose between two different portable kits, varying in size and bit variety. In selecting their bits, iFixit compiled data from their experience creating hundreds of of electronic manuals, and chose the most critical and useful sizes for each kit.

The Minnow Driver Kit is iFixit’s smallest kit on sale, measuring 2“x 5” in its case. With this size you can easily drop it into your EDC bag, organizer pouch or even carry it inside a larger jean or jacket pocket. It includes 16 different bits, ready for most tasks that may come at hand. They include standard Phillips and flathead drivers to get into the most common appliances and electronics around the house. You also get Torx, pentalobe security bits (which grant you access to Apple electronics), and tri-points to round out the Minnow’s kit.

The second kit is the Moray Driver Kit. This comprehensive kit features 32 driver bits to help you accomplish most repairs or tinkering jobs in your queue. At 0.9" x 3.1" x 4.9", is still portable enough to carry while still providing a competent toolkit. These bits include the ones previously mentioned in the Minnow, but with an even bigger variety of sizes. In addition to these bits, you’ll also find hex, nut, gamebit, triangle, and oval drivers for a more comprehensive set of functions.

Both kits feature a 4 mm precision bit driver, which features an integrated SIM eject pin for one more convenient function. A magnetic bit socket securely holds each bit while they’re in action, a knurled grip gives you proper purchase while working, and a swivel top ensures a smooth action. And to keep your screws in check, the cover of each kit doubles as a sorting tray to keep things organized.
