In a market of tough knives and even tougher materials, it can be difficult to set one apart. But when you take one of the best steels in the business, pair it with rock-solid scales, and wrap it up in a top-tier tactical design, you get something like Benchmade’s new Mini Adamas. It’s built like a tank and is designed to perform like one, all in a pocketable profile still suited for EDC. And when you throw in ambidextrous performance in the mix along with the brand’s signature AXIS lock, the Mini Adamas offers one of the strongest options for your next EDC knife.
As its name suggests, the Shane Sibert-designed Mini Adamas is a scaled-down version of its larger tactical brother, but no less lacking in features. The star of the show is its 3.25“ CPM-CruWear blade, a unique alloy steel found on premium knives that offers some of the best toughness, wear resistance, and edge retention you can find on a blade, hardened by Benchmade to some of the highest figures at 63-65 HRC. In spite of this toughness, it’s actually easier to sharpen CruWear than most of its high-hardness peers, making it even more appealing as a daily user steel. A versatile drop point shape, ambidextrous thumb studs, and a standout fuller round out the blade’s features.
The Mini Adamas isn’t the lightest knife at 4.6 ounces, but its use of skeletonized G-10 scales and liners shave off some weight while giving the knife a distinct bold look. Chamfered edges keep your grip comfortable, while jimping on each of the handle’s four corners lock it in for even the hardest use cases. The stainless steel liners add even more stability to the knife’s core, giving it even more tank-like properties and the assurance that the handles won’t ever bow or bend during use. And true to Benchmade’s signature ambidextrous consideration, the handles also house the knife’s AXIS lock and reversible deep-carry pocket clip.
From tip to clip the Benchmade 273GY-1 Mini Adamas is built to be one of the strongest and hardest-use knives you can carry for EDC, with no compromises spared on its fit and finish and no capability lost by shrinking it down from its big brother’s platform.
