Having a powerful flashlight in your pocket or on your keys is convenient, but trying to use one when you need your hands free for the task certainly isn’t. The Streamlight Pocket Mate boasts a unique, compact design that you can clip to a hat or clothing for hands-free illumination in a pinch without needing a cumbersome headlamp or additional hardware. And with its 325-lumen max output, it punches above its weight as a portable EDC in your pocket or backup light on your keys.

Just one look at the Streamlight Pocket Mate flashlight will tell you it isn’t like most flashlights, with its unique key-shaped design. At one end is an integrated gated clip for suspending the light off of keyrings and zippers, leading into the main body with its electronic operation switch, down to the LED at the business end. The bright white LED delivers up to 325 lumens on high, throwing out to 76 meters thanks to its smooth reflector. When you don’t need that much power, a general use Low mode delivers 45 lumens to 28 meters for an hour of continuous use. The integrated battery reaches several hours when used intermittently, and conveniently recharges via micro USB built into the side of the light. The electronic switch also serves as a battery charging status indicator to let you know when the light’s topped up.

The Pocket Mate’s versatility is the star of the show. Between the integrated key clip and detachable pocket clip, you have plenty of options for both how to carry and use the light. One ideal use case would be clipped to a visor or hat for precise, hands-free lighting when you need both hands instead of trying to hold a bulkier EDC light in your mouth. Clipping it to a zipper pull on your EDC bag gives you easy access to a light and ensures you’ve always got some illumination in your kit.

Because it’s designed to handle the brunt of everyday carry, the Pocket Mate boasts a machined aluminum housing with impact resistant polycarbonate and an IPX4 weather resistance rating. Streamlight also backs the light with a 2 year warranty. The Pocket Mate comes in four bold colors for easy visibility: Red, Silver, Blue, and Pink. Pick one up to match your EDC at the link below.
