Osprey’s expertise in making bags was born and forged in the outdoors, but their prowess extends into the everyday carry realm as well. Their Arcane series in particular focuses on providing sleek and sustainable bags for urban and travel EDC, built with their extensive experience for ease of use, comfortable carry, and stellar durability. This year they’ve added a new zip pouch, waist pack, and day bag to their Arcane line, and in this guide we’ll introduce you to what these bags have to offer and why you should think about including them when you pick up new gear for the coming fall season.

Arcane XL Day

As its name implies, the Arcane XL Day offers more internal storage space than the standard daypack, but at 30 liters of space and 1.74 lbs unloaded it’s neither too big nor too heavy for everyday carry. It’s a great choice if your loadout requires a lot of carrying space, and to that end it has simple and efficient front compartments for quick access to essentials, a roomy main compartment, a separate padded zip compartment that fits up to a 16“ laptop, and even a minimal stretchy water bottle compartment.

Whether you fill this bag to the brim or not, you’ll appreciate the NeoSpacer ridged foam backpanel and the soft breathable harness straps that make this bag easy to carry while on the go, and the super clean exterior features a durable 500D recycled polyester packcloth exterior (made from 26 plastic bottles!) that’s been treated with a DWR coating to help keep the rain out. Check it out in six subtle colorways at the link below.

Arcane Zip Pouch Large

The Arcane Zip Pouch Large is a useful “bag within a bag” that lets you hold essentials in an easy-access space. The slim design means you can pull it out of your bag when you need it instead letting your organize and consolidate instead of rummaging through your bag to find specific items. Inside of the pouch are pockets that allow you to segregate small tech essentials for easy ID, and there’s also an external zip pocket for further organizational convenience. Like the rest of the line the Arcane Zip Pouch features 500D recycled polyester packcloth and comes in two colorways and in Medium and Small sizes as well.

Arcane Waist

The fanny pack has come back in a big way in the world of EDC, and the Arcane Waist is a welcome addition to Osprey’s Arcane line. Its sustainable and durable 500D pack cloth construction is paired with a clean and minimalist look that looks great wherever you happen to sport this bag. And if you choose, you can wear this bag as a cross body sling that you can flip around quickly to get to what you need.

And there’s a full 1 liter of capacity built in, with an internal stretch zip pocket and an external zippered area for smaller essentials like your wallet or a phone. And like the rest of its peers, the Arcane Waist comes in three understated colors to match the rest of your EDC.
