Aer Active 2021 X-Pac

It’s a new workplace, and working from home and more compact commutes have blurred lines between work and play. It’s more important than ever for a versatile EDC, and few have blended work, workout, and everything in between like Aer. Thanks to their crossover Active collection you have options for a robust bag that, like you, can do the heavy lifting no matter what you day looks like. Hot on the heels of the 3rd version of the collection released earlier this year are X-Pac versions of the Fit and Duffel pack, giving everyone the option to add the high-performance material to their loadout.

If you’re unfamiliar with X-Pac, it’s a a highly durable and waterproof layered laminate material designed to withstand the harshest conditions built by Dimension-Polyant, a company that builds racing sailcloths by trade and figured they’d make an excellent product fabric as well. It’s made an appearance on a number of Aer bags over the years, but now the company is aiming to make it as accessible as possible to regular consumers as a premium option for all their bags moving forward—no limited edition drops, raffles, or extra hoops to jump through to be able to own your favorite model in X-Pac.

And speaking of favorite models, the Fit and Duffel Pack 3 are the popular backpack-style bags from the collection, offering two sizes depending on your needs at both the office and the gym. As part of their third iteration, they’ve been reworked with all-new antimicrobial interiors, soft-touch fabrics, new shoe compartments, and other improvements based on user feedback, like new external water bottle pockets on these two bags in particular.

The Fit Pack 3 X-Pac offers 18.7L of volume across three main compartments. The front compartment opened with the vertical zipper is an open space that shares with the stowable shoe compartment, which itself fits up to men’s size 13 shoes. It’s flanked on each side by subtle water bottle pockets integrated into the geometric design. The rear compartment is a redesigned laptop section, now able to fit up to a 16“ laptop as well as house other flat devices like tablets. In addition to the improvements across the line the Fit Pack 3 also comes with Aer’s standard features, like YKK zippers, Duraflex hardware, comfortable straps, back panel, and grab handle, and a luggage passthrough when packing for heavier commutes.

If you have a larger than usual active carry, then the Duffel Pack 3 might be the bag for you, offering a bigger 21.4L volume in a larger profile as its name suggests. But in spite of its capacity and size, it still wears comfortably as a daily bag, just in a taller length and height profile. The bag comes with most of the features of the Fit Pack 3 (16“ laptop, size 13 shoe, standard Aer hardware and features), but also with a few tweaks from the 2nd generation: it’s now a more symmetric bag, with a water bottle pocket and top stow pocket on each side.

X-Pac is a natural fit for these two bags designed to do it all for a full and active day, offering even more resilience and premium protection to an already stacked set of features. Pick out your choice for EDC at the links below.
