Every day, readers like you from around the world share photos of their everyday carry with us. Only a select few make it to the front page. Each month, we’ll highlight a couple of our favorite recent submissions and lay out why we find them so special. This past month, we've seen well-used gear, an impressively organized pouch carry, and setups that balance tech and tools perfectly.
Ed’s Favorite August EDCs
A Banker’s Carry from Mikael in Stockholm, Sweden
This carry is an excellent blend of analog and digital tools, and that’s what made it stand out to me. There’s a pen and paper for note taking, right alongside an iPhone and a Kindle. There’s two digital watches next to a high end manual-wind mechanical timepiece. I like how there’s a watch for every situation - the Apple Watch for some tech flair, the G-SHOCK for hard use, and the absolutely stunning JLC Master for dressing up. There’s a solid multitool which will cover most everyday needs, a nicely worn wallet, and an easy to carry pen and paper set. A lighter multi-tool may suit this carry better, the Leatherman Skeletool CX would fit in perfectly and knock 5 ounces off your carry compared to the Fuse. Each piece complements the next, resulting in a simple, yet refined collection that really stood out to me.

Walk around camera gear bag from Ian Mackie, a Design Consultant in the UK
My eye is always drawn to camera bag load outs, especially in an example where I use the same camera. Ian submitted his Fuji X100T travel setup, so I found it fascinating to see how he made such a compact camera into a full-on system. The original British Army Ammo Bag doubles as a great bag for camera gear. The outer grenade pouches are perfect spots for conversion lenses, flash units, and anything else that needs to be quickly retrieved. Ian has taken an extremely capable point-and-shoot and the right accessories, and turned it into a fully featured camera system that’s easier to carry and travel with. I don’t see one in the setup, but an affordable thumb grip in the hotshoe will make it easier to hold the camera with the conversation lens attached!

Core Everyday Carry from Daniel, an Engineer in New Jersey
My favorite thing about this carry is its mix of old-school, first-class EDC picks with new-school modern tech. The Leatherman Squirt, Saddleback ID wallet, and most especially HDS Rotary have been staple EDC picks since the early days of this site, while the iPhone and Apple Watch usher it into the next generation of everyday essentials. The patina and wear on the wallet and Squirt suggest that the carry gets a lot of use, and the paracord and biner on the light are useful additions to its retention, given that the Rotary isn't easily equipped with a pocket clip. It's also clear that a lot of thought has gone into maximizing pocket space, such as the selection of more minimal, yet nonetheless effective pieces such as the KeySmart and smaller multitool. I want to suggest adding an equally compact, discrete knife, but I feel like the carry as a whole has been tuned to be as light and efficient as possible, so I'll appreciate it for those qualities instead.

Blue Collar Used and Abused EDC from Sean, an Electrician in Melbourne, Australia
This is the perfect example of a carry fulfilling its daily duty. Every single item in the kit from its bits to its Bics appear well-used and well-loved, and stand as testaments to the solid selections covering all the owner's bases. I like the fact that there is a lot of overlap and redundancy to ensure said coverage, while at the same time keeping within the same color theme. That's some serious attention to detail — a closer look reveals at least two of every usable tool in the carry. The only thing I can think to add is a watch as rugged as the rest of the picks, maybe a classic G-Shock or a tough Seiko diver in the same thematic color. Other than that, I see this carry serving its owner for many years to come.

My EDC from Wotjek B, a Business Director in Poland
This was one of the most popular submissions of this month, Liked by many EDCers in our community — myself included. Wotjek’s pouch carry was really well done, from the arrangement and organization to the kit that made the cut. It’s also a great example of consolidating a carry into one grab and go solution. As I change bags often depending on the amount of gear I need to bring or how long I’ll be out, I definitely see the appeal in having a predictable kit you can toss on your person or between bags for the core essentials only. So many bases are covered in this setup between the multitools, flashlight (complete with backup batteries!), lighter, and pencil. The only thing I might add is something to write on, but other than that it’s a solid pouch setup.

My EDC from Jon, an Entrepreneur in Cleveland, Ohio
There are two main qualities about this carry that made it easily one of my favorites — its cohesiveness and its minimalism. Everything presented looks great together visually, but more important is how realistic it all is for an entrepreneur. I appreciate the simplicity in some aspects of the carry, like the well-worn leather phone case, the Paraframe as a no-frills workhorse of a knife, and even the unique one-hand 24 hour watch. One EDC item I think would fit great here is a durable pen to fit the metal theme, as they can really come in handy for taking notes on a business card after a meeting or general office work. A Zebra F701 is a great starting point for something to fill that role.
