Trending: Trayvax Ascent Wallet

This week's Wallet Wednesday mention goes to the Trayvax Ascent, a built-to-last minimalist wallet that's made in the USA from a mix of quality materials. Its stainless steel plate frame gives structure and strength to the wallet, while jimping along the edges ensure a firm grip. Top-grain, oil-tanned leather that's bolted to the frame and stitched by hand make up the rest of the wallet. There's a cut-out window on the front of the wallet for at-a-glance identification of your cards that doubles as a thumb slot to push and slide everything out with ease. The combination of steel and quality leather offer the best of both materials' worlds: durability plus a comfortable, luxe handfeel that gets better as it's broken in. You can fit a card or two in its quick-access slot, while its main compartment can stash three to four cards or folded cash. A nylon pull tab makes accessing cards in the main compartment that much easier. Finally, an attachment point in the steel frame allows for tether or lanyard options for a more secure carry. And like the rest of Trayvax's lineup of carry goods, the Ascent is backed by a 65-year heirloom warranty. Check it out in all its color combinations at the link below.

Trayvax Armored Summit Wallet

As the weather gets nicer, one way to start your spring cleaning is by taking a good look at your EDC. While your wallet might be one of the most important essentials in your kit, it's often the hardest to keep tidy. You can amass an impressive collection of loyalty cards and receipts which do nothing but add heft to your pockets in no time. If you’ve tried to slim down your wallet at all in the last few years, you’ve likely come across a minimalist wallet from Trayvax. While they're well-known for their rugged, overbuilt wallets, the Armored Summit comes as a more minimalist EDC option with RFID protection to boot.

This RFID-shielded update takes the tried and true design of the Summit and improves on it in a few key ways. For one, you’ll get a new designed skeleton frame that remains thin and light without sacrificing the toughness that the wallet is known for. The heat-resistant plate has also been given a melonite finish and textured grooves that allow for handling. As a testament to Trayvax's quality materials and craftsmanship, everything on the wallet is sourced and assembled in the USA.

Of course, you still get all the little things that made the wallet a great pick-up in the first place. Mil-spec nylon webbing and a cash clip let you still carry a few folded bills if you need it, and the tough metal frame also doubles as a bottle opener for kicking back and relaxing at the end of the day. Having a slim wallet doesn’t mean you have to leave important cards behind either. You can carry up to 8 essentials cards with ease and there’s also convenient ID window along the bottom as well. Best of all, the “armor” in the Armored Summit Wallet is RFID certified so you’ll have peace of mind whether you’re at home or abroad knowing that your information is safe.

As well-made as they are, some minimal wallets can cost as much as the cash they hold. Luckily, you can pick up an Armored Summit for around $30 via the link below.

Trayvax Trek Field Knife

Making an ideal everyday knife is a daunting task. From size to shape to steel, there's a lot of thought that can go into making one as versatile as possible. And though a fixed blade carried in a leather sheath isn't a common pick for an EDC knife, if there's anyone who can make one to the highest standards, it's Trayvax. For the past 5 years, Trayvax have been making some of the most popular wallets, belts, and accessories for EDC, and the latest product to demonstrate their prowess with leather and metal is the Trek Field Knife. From simple everyday tasks to rigorous field duties, they designed the Trek with thoughtful details and the best materials on the market to create the toughest and most reliable knife you can carry.

The Trek kicks off its features with its minimalist, CNC-machined design. Its business end features a 3.5” blade with serious attention to detail, such as a 40-degree leading edge that makes for a durable tip and a condensed belly with a sweeping edge for control and precision for even delicate slices. It also comes with a long, 3/4 flat bevel grind that allows for consistent performance when using the Trek for chopping or batoning tasks while retaining a full spine for strength.

A skeletonized handle makes up the Trek's second half, which maximizes its minimalist design. The “cutouts” allow for light weight while maintaining structural strength, and also offer customization by allowing you to use paracord or custom handles to make your Trek uniquely your own. The bottom of the Trek's tang ends in a blunt spear point, letting you poke or pierce if the need arises.

Two of the highest quality steels were selected for the Trek, standard 440C and CPM S35VN premium steel. The more affordable (but highly capable) 440C is a high-carbon, high-alloy steel, whose unique composition allows for precise hardening and sharpening. The CPM S35VN option is one of the highest tiers of steel used for high-end knives, offering exceptionally hard and highly-resistant performance while still allowing ease of maintenance.

The Trek's minimal fixed blade design leaves little room for carry options, but this is where Trayvax's leather expertise comes to play. Each Trek comes with a custom 6 oz vegetable-tanned leather sheath sourced from the elite Horween Leather Co. tannery, which may be familiar if you've ever owned a premium leather wallet or bag. The sheath comes in two options, one with a combo layout allowing for both vertical and horizontal carry, while a traditional layout that allows for low-riding, right-handed carry.

The entire process of making the Trek Field Knife from its materials to manufacturing is 100% sourced in the USA, and backed by Trayvax's 65-year heirloom warranty. Their Kickstarter campaign is already completely funded with plenty of time for you to pledge, with stretch goals in the works for an even more customizable final product for backers. Trayvax OG 2.0 Wallet

Good things take time. In Trayvax's case, they spent five years perfecting their newest wallet, the OG 2.0. Not one to rest on their laurels, Trayvax took on the ambitious task of improving upon their original wallet design, which was already wildly popular with the EDC community. The 2.0 keeps everything that made the original so great in an all-new design with improved materials and features that make it an even better option for your daily wallet.

The OG 2.0 comes as a fresh but familiar upgrade to the original, starting with Trayvax's signature stainless steel backplate at the core of the design. It's packed with features you'd expect from a one-piece multi-tool, starting with a handy pry bar tip on one corner and a lanyard attachment point on another. On the backside, the OG 2.0 features an all-new money clip that doubles as a pocket clip for when you're not carrying cash. Besides the added functionality of a TSA-compliant bottle opener, the metal clip is more resistant to wear, easier to use, and quieter than the velcro on the original. This time around, you have to option of beefing up the 2.0 with a lightweight but durable and grippy G10 face. The backplate and face are bound together along the edges by paracord, making a “frame” to display your ID, badge, or other credentials easily. The main card compartment between the plates accommodates up to 15 cards, which you can access by undoing the security clasp and sliding them out.
Like the rest of Trayvax's gear, the OG 2.0 is proudly made in the USA and backed by a 65 year warranty. It's available in four colors and in a few different bundles with other Trayvax gear at fairly affordable Kickstarter pricing. Be sure to secure your own at the fully funded campaign linked below.
