Combining some of the most resilient materials in watchmaking: metal, carbon fiber, and resin, the GGB100-8A MUDMASTER and the GRB200-1B GRAVITYMASTER uphold the legacy of the G-SHOCK Master of G series while remaining lighter than most. Keeping in mind professionals who work in some of the toughest environments out there, these timepieces are not only shock-resistant, but also excel at keeping water and mud out. This is due to their unique carbon core guard structure, which includes a carbon fiber reinforced resin case, carbon fiber insert bezel, a dual-layered caseback, and shock resistant buttons. This is the state of the art of tough watches, and pound for pound the heaviest contenders for your next EDC watch.
The GGB100-8A MUDMASTER measures in with a 53.1mm case at 3.24 oz while the GRB200-1B GRAVITYMASTER a sizeable 54.1mm, weighing in at 2.99 oz. The larger case sizes allow the watches to have detailed hybrid faces, combining the best of the analog and digital worlds. While the MUDMASTER features a classic LCD display for its digital section, the GRAVITYMASTER uses an inverted LCD display, further accentuating its stealth-inspired design. Aside from the dual time displays, you get the full suite of G-SHOCK timekeeping features, including a step counter, a stopwatch, alarms and timers, and an auto calendar that counts all the way to 2099.
Both watches feature quad sensors, including a thermometer, a pressure sensor (altimeter/barometer), magnetic sensor (digital compass), and accelerometer (step tracker) for even more advanced information right on your wrist. The watches can also connect via Bluetooth to the G-SHOCK Connected app, giving you expanded accessibility to a Mission Log feature, world time for over 300 cities, a calorie counter, and a phone finding feature, among others. The watches also have a “Super Illuminator” feature for low-light visibility. This means that they include two different LEDs that light up the dial when activated. One LED illuminates the analog face while another LED serves as a backlight to illuminate the LCD display. Spherical mineral glass is utilized for durability, and like all G-SHOCKs, they are water resistant up to 200 meters. Last but not least, a resin band keeps them comfortable to wear anywhere you might go.
If you want a watch that’ll be able to keep up with you during the toughest of circumstances in some of the most hazardous environments, either of these G-SHOCKs are more than up to the task. Check them out at the link below.
