About This Everyday Carry
“Being in construction, there’s not a day that goes by when I don’t use everything you see here. The Leatherman Skeletool gets the most action: tightening a loose doorknob, snipping wire, you name it. My Olight S1 Mini Baton comes in second. I’ve carried this 1,200-lumen light for years. It runs on a rechargeable 16340 or CR123 battery, and the magnetic tail cap is clutch whether I’m tracking deer, fishing wire in an attic, or jigging for walleyes at night.
I always keep a bigger dedicated blade for heavy cutting like plastic banding, rope, and boxes. The Casio MDV-106 is, in my opinion (and Bill Gates’s), the best value diver out there, with 200-meter water resistance and impressive accuracy for less than sixty bucks.
Pretty simple and basic, yet it works on the job and in the field. Carry on.” — @rippinraps on Instagram, Construction Worker and Outdoorsman in WI
Editor’s Note: Here’s a great example of how a relatively minimal EDC can cover a ton of bases, even for someone who works in construction and spends time outdoors. Rippinraps also points out why someone might need to carry a dedicated knife even if their multi-tool has one. Some tools are just better for certain jobs than others and if you can fit both in your EDC, use the right tool for the job! Also nice to see that this gear has served them for years. One last callout is the Casio Duro on the wrist. I also agree it’s probably the best value diver out there! Thanks for sharing.
