Every day, readers like you proudly share photos of their everyday carry on the site.
Not only is looking through their pockets this way super interesting, but it’s also a great way to find really cool gear you never even knew existed (yet somehow, suddenly need…).
When you hover over an item you like and click on it in these photos, you’re also letting other EDCers know you find that gear interesting. The Most Popular EDC Gear from October 2019
10. Buck 112 Ranger
Kicking off October’s most popular items is a tried-and-true traditional knife from Buck. Their 112 Ranger lockback folding knife is one of their more popular models, with its timeless design that spans generations and solid features that make it an excellent everyday folder. A 3″ 420HC clip point blade is its main attraction, with a sweeping belly and sharp point that make short work of general cutting tasks. Nail nick deployment keeps the blade clean and sleek, while a lockback mechanism subtly takes its place on the tail of the 112‘s classy handles. Inlaid Macassar Ebony wood with brass bolsters deliver an iconic combination for these handles, with enough length for a full-handed grip for better control while the knife is in use. A genuine leather sheath rounds out its features and give the 112 Ranger a comfortable home in your EDC.
9. Victorinox Rambler
Victorinox’s 58 mm tools are some of the best options for keychain or backup EDC, with a robust variety of tools and models that let you dial in what you need most in your day. The Rambler comes with 10 functions, including a knife, scissors, combo bottle opener and Philips screwdriver, and Victorinox’s ever-useful tweezers and toothpick slotted within the signature red scales. True to its name, the Rambler is the perfect addition to an outdoor ramble or weekend getaway EDC, while still compact and easy to carry enough to deal with everyday tasks.
8. Spyderco Smock
Last month’s 8th spot is a serious flipper from Spyderco putting together some of the best and most unique features you can find on a knife. Starting with its 3.375″ blade in high-performance S30V steel, the Smock‘s business end features a sleek wharncliffe shape with a nice usability touches by way of a finger choil and spine jimping for total control while in a choked up grip. Deployment is performed by way of Spyderco’s signature Round Hole and a low-profile flipper tab, and lock duties are up to another unique feature on the Smock: a push-button compression lock. When you’re done working, the blade folds up into the Smock‘s carbon fiber/G-10 laminate handles, where a skeletonized design and a reversible pocket clip complete the EDC package.
7. MecArmy X7S
The MecArmy X7S is a combination LED flashlight, lighter, and dry storage container. The light itself features a 130 lumen Cree XP-G2 LED that can throw light out to around 193 feet. Easy one-handed twist activation turns the light on and controls its output from an 8-lumen Low mode to its highest setting. The integrated 10180 li-ion battery lasts six hours on the Low setting and conveniently recharges via micro-USB. The X7S lighter resembles a trusty peanut lighter, designed for use with liquid fuel and measures in at a mere 2” long with the cap attached. The storage area is just big enough for pills or a spare battery. And because the body is made out of precision CNCed 304 stainless steel featuring IPX8 water resistance, you can feel confident that it can withstand the elements. The best part: each module of the X7S can be assembled with the rest, letting you customize depending on your day’s needs.
6. Cold Steel Micro Recon 1
The idea for Cold Steel’s original Recon 1 is simple: put together a solid tanto blade in a workhorse steel, pair it with grippy Griv-Ex handles, and lock it all up with Cold Steel’s super tough Tri-Ad lock and you’ve got one of the best and toughest tantos in the business. Now shrink it to keychain size and you’ve got last month’s 6th most popular item, the Micro Recon 1. It’s got all the best parts of its big brother, but sized for your pockets with a 2″ blade and an overall length of 4.38″. A generous cutout on the handles let you manage the smaller size, and an included keyring lets you hang it at the ready on your keychain.
5. Spinnaker Hull Automatic
With a 41mm case showing off its large vintage, dive-watch inspired dial, the Spinnaker Hull Automatic makes an eye-catching statement, especially at night when the Super LumiNova-coated pips and hands let loose with their lume. During the day, a deep green dial that matches its strap lets the Hull give a verdant touch to any outfit. And last but not least, a Japanese caliber TMI NH35 automatic movement with a date complication and power reserve of 41 hours takes care of the Hull‘s beating heart.
4. FALETO Anti-Theft Sling Bag
FALETO’s Anti-Theft Sling Bag is a discreet and durable solution that also offers peace of mind. Two external zippered pockets organize small objects while keeping them within easy reach, while the main compartment is large enough to hold a mini tablet as well as a wallet. There’s a generous phone pocket found at the top of the bag, secured by a convenient magnetic buckle. You can wear the sling across the body as a chest pack or backpack, and is slim enough to be concealed under a jacket for added protection. Lightweight and comfortable, its sleek styling lets it go from the office to casual wear, and is suitable for a wide range of activities.
3. Suunto Core
Coming in on the third spot is the Suunto Core, a robust wearable packed with a plethora of features sure to please any outdoorsman. Besides the standard digital watch functions of alarm, timer, and stopwatch, the large 49 mm face displays data from its altimeter, barometer, compass, and temperature sensors. It even has a storm alarm that alerts you of a significant drop in barometric pressure, and is one of the few altimeters waterproofed up to 30 meters. Whatever adventure you’re on, the Suunto Core will be sure to keep up.
2. Blade-Tech Ultimate Carry Belt
Normal belts are boring. Sure, they keep your pants from falling down after you’ve loaded up your pockets. But being the EDCers that we are, we try to find utility and quality in every piece of our gear—including those that may seem like the last place you’d find something useful. This brings us last month’s 2nd most popular item, Blade-Tech’s Ultimate Carry Belt. It’s designed to be the most robust and comfortable belt for everyone, thanks to its accommodation of every size waist from 26″ to 50″. But its real secret is its ratcheting adjustment system that easily adjusts the belt 0.25″ at a time, while holding it fast with reinforced polymer teeth that yields 1,300 lbs of tensile strength, making quick adjustments for gear or comfort throughout the day a breeze. And speaking of tough, high-density, water-repellent nylon or premium grade leather as its base means that it won’t let you (or your pants) down even from extended wear.
1. Leatherman FREE T4
October’s most popular item, the Leatherman FREE T4, brings 12 functions to bear in a 3.6“, 4.3 oz package. Many familiar tools from the FREE P-Series make an appearance, such as a 420HC knife, spring-action scissors, an assortment of drivers, openers, a heavy-duty file, and even a detachable pair of tweezers. You can deploy all the tools one-handed thanks to the FREE’s magnetic architecture and cam lock system, making them buttery smooth to open, locked in place while in use, and as easy to close up when you’re finished with your tasks. And when you’re ready to grab the T4 and go, its included and removable pocket clip gives it a secure spot in your EDC.
