A minimal card wallet can do wonders for slimming down your pockets, but optimizing your carry doesn’t have to mean going smaller. Most card carrying wallets have a spot for stashing a bill or two, but what if you live in a country where coins are a major form of currency?

Some countries in Europe for example are way ahead of the U.S when it comes to contactless payments, but you’ll still find yourself with a pocketful of euros by the end of the day.

Whether you live in one of these countries or are just planning to visit one, a wallet with a dedicated spot for coins can go a long way. You’re going to need your cards no matter what, but if you want to avoid a pocket of jingling coins, get you a wallet that can do both.

Best Coin Wallets

Bellroy Coin Fold

When it comes to quality EDC wallet, Bellroy is one of the names that usually comes up in conversation. Their Coin Fold wallet keeps your pockets slim while letting you carry everything from cards to coins. It has a section for stashing cash and can hold up to 8 cards in its leather build. It even has a place for a SIM card if you’re going to be traveling. Pinching the wallet gives you access the coin pocket which has a small ridge inside that prevents the coins from falling out accidentally.

Bellroy Note Sleeve

Although you probably wouldn’t be able to tell from its name, the Note Sleeve isn’t just for holding bills. It also has a small flap on the inside perfect for stashing coins so you don’t end up with a pocket full of loose change. Besides having a built-in coin pocket, you’ll also get a few more modern features, like a pull tab that lets you get to cards you don’t use often and 3 quick-access slots for the ones that you do. Top that off with the quality leather construction the company is known for and this wallet is sure to age beautifully with the rest of your EDC.

Maxpedition C.M.C. Wallet

When it comes to EDC, Maxpedition gear tends to get the job done. Case in point: their C.M.C Wallet. A 1000D ballistic nylon construction is durable enough to withstand riding around in your pocket all day. On the inside you’ll get a divided bill section (so you can carry two different currencies when traveling), a zippered coin pocket, three quick access slots for cards, a large pocket for lesser used cards, and even a few elastic mini-pockets perfect for smaller essentials like sim cards or memory cards. It’s a multipurpose wallet for sure, but what makes it a great coin wallet is the zipper along the back that lets you discreetly access the coin pocket without needing to fully open the wallet.

Hardgraft Zip Bifold

Chances are your wallet is going to be with you everyday, and the Zip Bifold from Hardgraft makes sure that you carry something that’s just as stylish as it is practical. This leather bifold maintains a slim profile while allowing you to carry up to 12 cards along with cash and coins. The full-sized cash slot means you won’t have to worry about folding or unfolding bills at checkout, and the zippered closure right behind it keeps any coins you have silent and out of the way until you need them.

Taxi Wallet

Whether you’re going out for the night or to another country, the Bordo by Taxi Wallet carries everything you might need and then some. Along with a special pocket specifically for folded bills and another for coins, you can also carry up to 8 cards in this wallet. But better than that, it has a hidden compartment so you can carry a spare check or even keep your important essentials hidden.

Nodus Compact Coin Wallet

If noisy coins are the bane of your carry, the Nodus Compact Coin Wallet could be the solution you’ve been looking for. Coins will stay securely inside thanks to its zipper closure, but it also has a few more features that give it some extra functionality. Two pockets on either side allow for contactless payments while any cards that go inside get the benefit of RFID protection. Of course you can also carry folded bills inside and it also comes with a key slot for added convenience.

Maxpedition TCP

Sometimes simple works best, and keeping it simple is what the Triangle Coin Pouch by Maxpedition is good at. It’s made of a nylon composite that’s been laser cut into a shape that folds into the perfect little coin pouch, complete with button closures to keep everything from falling out. Whether you’re carrying spare change or a few folded bills, the TCP is great considering it doesn’t take up much space whether you’re carrying it in your pocket or pack.

Capsule Accomplice

The Capsule Accomplice is a minimalist leather wallet that maximizes what you can comfortably carry. Inside you’ll find a cash strap that keeps your bills off to one side so you can access cards and coins without them getting in the way. You can stash up to 20 cards inside and its YKK zipper keeps everything secure until it’s time to pay. There’s also an external quick access pocket so you don’t have to go digging through your wallet every time you need your most used card.

Cavity Card

If you happen to enjoy your current wallet but just wish that it was a little better at storing coins, you can always opt for the Cavity Card. This piece of Nylon is only 2.3mm thin but more than up to the task of EDC. You can easily store coins, sim cards, or even a key in a body that will fit into the credit card slots of most wallets. If you’re looking for a way to keep your wallet thin while giving it the extra functionality you need when you need it, this is a great option.

Take a look on Hazard4 wallets. They extra durable.
Great post.I live in Japan and there are many kinds of coins. But most of the popular minimal wallets in the U.S. have no coin pocket so these can not be used in Japan.
I'm using a Mammut Smart Wallet Ultralight. It has a small zipper pocket so I can put in some coins and keys.
