Machine Era Field Pen Twist

With the rising popularity of EDC, there are plenty of machined pens on the market. But just because a pen's made out of metal doesn't always mean it's anything to write home about. These days it takes unique features on top of a rock-solid construction to stand out. The metal machining masters at Machine Era are back with their newest iteration of their Field Pen, but this time, it comes with a twist. Instead of featuring the usual screw cap or clicky top, the Field Pen Twist features a rear-twist mechanism for simple, smooth operation. It's loaded up with a Japanese gel refill to ensure a smooth writing experience from the first twist to the last word.

The Field Pen Twist's EDC-friendly feature set starts with its robust materials. Its machined body comes in matte black DLC-coated stainless steel, brushed stainless steel, or solid brass to offer varying degrees of heft and balance in hand without compromising durability. An anodized 6061 aluminum button covers the pen's Schmidt Easy Glide twist mechanism. This German-made mechanism deploys the ink refill with a simple twist, then locks in place during use. Recessed just below the twist section lies Machine Era's US-made pocket clip, a must-have component on a daily jotter.

The pen measures just under 5", hitting a balance between portable enough for EDC yet comfortable enough to write with. The machined barrel features a subtle, integrated grip section at the business end and is sized to accommodate Parker refills. A Japanese Itoya Aquaroller gel refill comes standard with the Field Pen Twist, delivering a much smoother writing performance than most ballpoint ink cartridges without the fuss and fragility usually found in fountain pens. With its tough build, compact size, simple operation, and silky smooth gel ink, the Field Pen Twist could be your next daily jotter. I'm hoping Adam will bring back the V2 field pen, especially if the brass one has the option for black detail on the clip. Better yet, a "full-size" version that takes Pilot G2 size refills would be amazing.
