Leatherman FREE™ T-Series

When you’re in a bind and something needs fixing on the spot, the best tool is most likely whatever you have on you. But there’s nothing as effective as having the right tool for the job—after all, you know it’s not practical to try and punch a hole through leather with a drill, nor cut open boxes with a chef’s knife. And as much as your EDC multi-tool is built to handle every task under the sun, sometimes a little goes a longer way. As the next in line in Leatherman’s FREE collection of tools, the T-Series models were redesigned end-to-end with everyday carry as a priority, both in their functionality and in their size. With the right number of functions in a profile that’s easy to use, carrying them actually means having the best tools on you.

Spearheading the T-Series is the T4, which brings 12 functions to bear in a 3.6“, 4.3 oz package. Many familiar tools from the FREE P-Series make an appearance, such as a 420HC knife, spring-action scissors, an assortment of drivers, openers, a heavy-duty file, and even a detachable pair of tweezers. You can deploy all the tools one-handed thanks to the FREE’s magnetic architecture and cam lock system, making them buttery smooth to open, locked in place while in use, and as easy to close up when you’re finished with your tasks. Despite being designed as a pocket-friendly multi-tool with a slightly smaller stature, these tools come with the same quality found on its P-Series brothers, which means functionality that punches well above what you expect out of a palm-sized tool. And when you’re ready to grab the T4 and go, its included and removable pocket clip gives it a secure spot in your EDC.

If space is a high priority and weight is at a premium for your pockets, then the slimmer T2 might be a better option for your carry. Weighing 3.3 oz (an ounce lighter than the T4) with a more compact rear geometry, it trades in the scissors, tweezers, file, and pocket clip to be a better, sleeker fit for smaller pockets. That said, 8 functions are still at your disposal, including the 2.2" 420HC blade and an essential assortment of drivers and openers. If the T4 is a "best of" compact multi-tool, then think of the T2 as a fully-loaded folding knife.

No matter which you choose, the made in the USA construction, unique magnetic opening and closing system, and Leatherman guarantee make the T-Series a compelling addition to round out (or slim down) your EDC. Find the best option for you on the Leatherman site at the link below.

So yesterday I walked into smoky mountain knife works and said I’d like to see the Leatherman Free T4 please. Very nice, I would like to purchase one please. Oh sir I cannot sell you one. You have to order it through our website. Even though we have them in stock we can only sell them through our website, per Leatherman. So I left with a TOPS MSF 4.0, mini Scandi folder. Very nice. Too bad Leatherman.
