RovyVon S3 Flashlight

Any list that features keychain flashlights would most likely feature a RovyVon or two. They’ve made a name for themselves with their extensive Aurora collection, but that doesn’t mean compact lights are the only tool in their shed. They’ve tried their hand before at larger lights like the A28 and the S2 searchlight, and their latest light—the S3—stands at a solid middle ground of output and EDC practicality.

Measuring in at only 2.74″ long, the RovyVon S3 is only slightly longer than the keychain Aurora models. But in spite of its size, the S3 offers nearly double the output of its Aurora brothers. Thanks to it’s triple LED design, you get a maximum of 1,800 lumens of output in its Cool White CREE-XP-G3 variant or up to 1,200 lumens with the Nichia 219C Neutral White option. Both options are powered a USB-C rechargeable 16340 li-ion battery, but are also able to use regular CR123A primaries in a pinch (one of the few RovyVon models that uses standard batteries).

The S3 comes with five different brightness settings, ranging from an 8-lumen Low for 22 hours of runtime to it’s 1,800-lumen Turbo for 3 minutes before a step down to High (CW 500 lumens/NW 400), and further down the ladder as its battery runs out. You you also get an SOS/Strobe mode for emergencies. You can access any of these modes with its single side switch, which also doubles as a low-battery indicator.

You can pick between two versions of the S3: aluminum and titanium. The aluminum version weighs in at 2.75 oz while the titanium version weighs in at 3.56 oz. While the titanium version comes with the premium material strength-to-weight performance and aesthetics (not to mention price tag), both lights are rated IPX7 for water and impact resistance.

Rounding out its EDC features are a deep carry pocket clip, a lanyard hole, a 1/4″ tripod hole in case you need to mount the light, a ceramic glass breaker bead at the bottom, and even a tritium slot if you want to add a vial for extra flair or visibility. You can pick up either version of the RovyVon S3 at the links below.
