Plastic in our oceans, rivers and lakes is becoming more and more of a problem as time passes by. Joining in on the effort of cleaning up this pollution, Solgaard decided to design a watch made almost out of recycled materials: the Shoreline. Manufactured with ocean-bound plastic, the production of each Shoreline watch prevents the introduction of up to 229 bottles in the ocean. To further help with this environmental effort, the watch’s band has been made with biodegradable silicone, preventing any future contamination.
You’ll first notice the Shoreline’s 42mm case in a unique hexagonal shape. Solgaard decided to opt for this case shape so that you can more easily tell the time; you only need to look at whether the hand is on a corner or a flat side. The face of the watch features a minimalistic, monochromatic design, with the hands and indices being the same color as the rest of the watch.
The hours are represented by longer and shorter narrow lines, similar in shape to the hands. Inside, you’ll find a premium Japanese Miyota three-hand quartz movement, offering reliable and accurate performance. And just because the Shoreline is made from recycled materials, that doesn’t mean it’s flimsy or too delicate. It’s ready to hit the waves, with the Shoreline not only water resistant for up to 165 feet, but also shock resistant, making sure that bumps and scrapes won’t ruin your day, or your fun.
To help you get behind the Shoreline, Solgaard offers a 10-year guarantee against manufacturing defects, as well as a 100-day trial period, in which you can send the watch back if you don’t feel satisfied with it. Pick one up in one of its 6 ocean-themed colors at the link below.
