Back in 2020, to celebrate the Lunar New Year, Victorinox came out with a limited edition Huntsman commemorating the Year of the Rat. In 2021 they wanted to keep the tradition going with another limited edition Huntsman, this time, representing the Year of the Ox. It’s one of Victorinox’s most popular and feature-packed multi-tools, and a great addition to any EDC as we hopefully move on to bigger and better things this year.
Like the previous limited editions of Victorinox’s Huntsman, only 8,000 copies were made, making it a true collector’s item. This special edition SAK comes with a beautiful Ox depicted in gold paint, contrasting against Victorinox’s classic red Cellidor scales. In addition, it also features a “Seigaha” pattern. Although it’s more commonly seen in Japanese culture and art, it traces its origins in China where it was used on ancient maps to depict the sea. The waves or water that it symbolizes are used to represent surges of good luck. Finally, its all packaged in a gorgeous display box featuring the Ox as well.
Like the animal it represents, the Huntsman is designed to be useful and hardworking. It comes with 16 different functions, all meant to focus on handling everyday tasks. For cutting purposes, it includes a small wood saw, a large 3.6″ long Sandvik stainless steel blade, as well as a smaller blade for precision work. For food applications, you can count on a can opener, a corkscrew, and a bottle opener. For smaller DIY tasks, it also comes with multiple screwdrivers, a pair of tweezers, a pair of scissors, among others. Despite having so many functions, it remains portable at 3.6″ long, 0.8″ thick, and weighing 3.5 oz, still making it a convenient carry for EDC.
Whether you’re looking for a solid multi-tool, appreciate collecting Victorinox’s unique offerings, or find a connection with this Lunar New Year’s dependable animal, the Huntsman Year of the Ox is a great choice. Pick one up before they run out at the links below.
