If you’ve spent some time in the everyday carry community, you’ve probably already heard of Bellroy and their line of expertly crafted bags, packs, wallets, and other accessories made of quality leather. You might also know that Bellroy makes an effort to build their gear using more environmentally friendly tanned leather and recycled materials whenever possible. Their latest partnership with Natural Fiber Welding lets them take a huge step towards using the most sustainable leather alternative yet in MIRUMⓇ, and their first project for the new material is their compact but versatile Sling Mini.
While synthetic leathers are on the right path, Bellroy have found that even these come with sacrifices they’re not willing to make in the pursuit of better materials. The goal with Natural Fiber Welding’s MIRUMⓇ material was to take a holistic approach towards development, and reduce the steps to break down or rebuild it. The result is a material made from nothing but nature, in a the fusion of natural materials like cork, natural rubber, soybean oil, and dyed with coconut husk charcoal. It’s reusable and can be broken down with minimal intervention (and thus emissions). And it doesn’t hurt that with Bellroy’s skillful craftsmanship, the resulting products are a cut above the rest.
MIRUMⓇ is the perfect material for Bellroy to toss onto their Sling Mini: it’s hard to beat the classic styling of a handsome bag in black, and it’s the perfect size for EDC essentials whether you’re off to work our out on the town. In addition to the sustainable upgrade, the Sling Mini retains its useful key features, from the lightweight construction to the compact 4 liter capacity which allows you to free up plenty of space in your pockets. And despite its smaller size, the plethora of pockets and hideaway spaces make this one of the best everyday carry bags that you can pick up.
Bellroy’s new Sling Mini is one of their sleekest and most sustainable yet. It’s a natural balance of Bellroy’s pursuit of better designs and better materials, while also being an excellent daily carrier for EDC. It’s available now at Bellroy’s site, with a wallet following in the new year, so be sure to check both soon at the link below.
