The Foiled Again series is Field Notes’ 59th Quarterly Edition for Summer 2023 and continues the brand’s elevation of the everyday notebook. They’ve partnered with Studio on Fire of St. Paul, Minnesota, to revisit and produce the hot-foil stamping process used to create the metallic cover of this edition, with Field Notes artist Aaron Draplin providing the detailed intricacies of the cover artwork.

Field Notes says that hot foil stamping is one of their favorite printing processes, originally patented in 1892 by Ernst Oeser of Germany. For the Foiled Again series, Studio on Fire hot-stamps silver foil on a new paper called Neenah Pearl “Indigo” 110# cover stock. Inside are 48 pages of 60# Finch Opaque text stock ruled with silver ink and bound with three staples. A matching tuck box that features the cover art in reverse colors stores and carries three Field Notes Foiled Again notebooks.
