They say even a broken clock is right twice a day. As EDCers, we'd rather not find out if that's true for ourselves when it comes to our watches. A great EDC watch should be practically indestructible, accurate, and low maintenance to give you both the time and some peace of mind. New for 2018, the Citizen Promaster Tough was designed with that in mind for extreme durability. With its unique monocoque construction, rugged materials, and reliable Eco-Drive technology, it's built tough inside and out.

To live up to its name, the Promaster Tough features a “monocoque” (French for single-shell”) chassis that results in no caseback. Instead, the two-piece construction offers enhanced structural rigidity, making the watch extremely shock-, temperature-, and magnetism-resistant. The 42mm case itself is made from a coated stainless steel that's hypoallergenic, anti-rust, scratch-resistant, and five times harder than untreated stainless steel. Finally, an anti-reflective sapphire crystal rounds out the exterior, complete with scratch resistance and clarity.

Under the lens, the Promaster Tough's dial shows plenty of depth due to its three-tiered design. The outer chapter ring is closest to the surface, then the markers, to the deepest portion at the center of the dial. The hands and markers are coated with SuperLuminova for night-time legibility, while a date display at the 3 o'clock position and a contrast red seconds hand complete the face. The E168 Eco-Drive quartz movement runs accurately and reliably and keeps a charge from any light source rather than relying on batteries that eventually need to be replaced. Last but not least, it's water resistant to 200M to handle most day-to-day conditions like rain, swimming, and showering.

The Promaster Tough is available in silver on a bracelet and in black or green on a Cordura ballistic fabric strap. You can grab this stainless steel configuration at the link below.
