The Field Pen Twist's EDC-friendly feature set starts with its robust materials. Its machined body comes in matte black DLC-coated stainless steel, brushed stainless steel, or solid brass to offer varying degrees of heft and balance in hand without compromising durability. An anodized 6061 aluminum button covers the pen's Schmidt Easy Glide twist mechanism. This German-made mechanism deploys the ink refill with a simple twist, then locks in place during use. Recessed just below the twist section lies Machine Era's US-made pocket clip, a must-have component on a daily jotter.

The pen measures just under 5", hitting a balance between portable enough for EDC yet comfortable enough to write with. The machined barrel features a subtle, integrated grip section at the business end and is sized to accommodate Parker refills. A Japanese Itoya Aquaroller gel refill comes standard with the Field Pen Twist, delivering a much smoother writing performance than most ballpoint ink cartridges without the fuss and fragility usually found in fountain pens.
