Modern and well-designed sling bags have become a truly viable option for an EDC pack. Thanks to their lightweight builds, compact and comfortable carry profile, and “sweet spot” versatility, you’re able to take and organize your everyday essentials in one go without resorting to a larger bag. The Black Ember TKS Sling brings weatherproofing and gear organizing capacity to the table in a svelte pack that’s designed to let you bring all your essentials in a stylish, feature-rich package. TKS stands for “Tech-Kit Sling” and this is one pack for all the gadget-touting EDCers whose phone, charger(s), earbuds, and other tech accessories form an indispensable part of their daily carry.

Keeping your essential and expensive tech gear dry would be one of the main concerns when bringing them in a pack as handy and portable as the TKS Sling, but its design and materials have you covered. Using a 3-layer IPX6-rated waterproof and abrasion-resistant fabric that’s laser cut and put together using Black Ember’s own BOND-STITCH construction, you can rest assured that whatever you carry in it stays protected and dry. This performance textile they call MICROHEX HTX is also able to withstand against 1200 PSI of water jet pressure. As an extra precaution, the TKS Sling also uses YKK AquaGuard zippers, paired with extra long, laser-cut Hypalon zipper pulls that can be locked together during transit to add some theft protection to their weatherproofing capabilities.

Carrying your EDC essentials and tech gear isn’t just a matter of stuffing them into whatever bag fits them. The Black Ember TKS Sling boasts multiple storage spaces in its main compartment, plus a large front zippered pocket with a buckled key loop inside. The protective sleeve inside the front pocket is designed to give you quick access to your phone as well as a means to charge it on the go by letting you thread in your charging cable from the main compartment through discreet pass-through cutouts.

In the main compartment, 200D ripstop lining in matte silver provides the contrast to help you distinguish and sort through your packed gear. On one side, an expandable zippered mesh pocket lets you store your loose EDC smalls or even a small packable jacket. On the other, an accordion-style setup gives you six different pockets, including one dedicated for your phone charger and its cables. A magnetic buckle keeps everything on this side neatly tucked in, and the integrated pen loop on its strap lets you carry another EDC essential in this pack.

Once packed and organized you can access the carry strap from behind the padded back panel, loop it across one shoulder, and lock it in with the magnetic Fidlock V-Buckle. Like most well-designed slings, multiple loops and pulls let you easily adjust the strap for fit, including one that keeps the extra length after adjustment from dangling untidily off your pack. At your destination, the easy-to-operate buckle, tuck-away strap, and smooth zippers make it easy to access your gear and get into work (or play) mode immediately.

Everybody’s carry profile is different, but the Black Ember TKS Sling stands out as a strong contender for a stylish and easy to carry pack that allows you to carry all your tech gear and accessories in a well-organized, weatherproof, and theft-deterring package.
