Some people like to pack efficiency into their EDC setups by getting the most utility or output from as small and light an item as possible. Others like to make their kit special via limited edition versions of popular and well-regarded items. But if you’re on both sides of the fence for your next flashlight, this new arrival from ThruNite covers both. We’ve covered the original version before, but a new colorway warrants a revisit of this value-packed, pint-sized powerhouse. The ThruNite T1 Dark Green is the latest release for this compact pocket rocket.

The 2.73" long T1 achieves a maximum output of 1,500 lumens while offering a very workable interface along with USB-charging convenience. The package includes a ThruNite 3.7V 1100mAh 18350 battery that’s charged within the light itself via the covered USB port opposite its side switch. A USB cable and extra rubber cover are included as well. This battery’s higher voltage is able to squeeze up to 1,500 lumens from the Cree XHP 50 LED on its highest setting. It takes a little over 2 hours to charge completely, tracked via a battery indicator light on the side switch itself: red means you need to top up, flashing red means it’s charging, and blue means you’re good to go.

Operating the light is easy thanks to the single electronic side switch. A single click accesses mode memory and returns you to your last used setting. Long pressing after it’s switched on gives you a ramping, variable output level from 15 lumens for up to 36 hours all the way up to 685 lumens which can go for up to 80 minutes. A single click turns the light off. Holding the switch for one second while the light is off lets you directly access a 1-lumen Firefly mode, while double-clicking gives you immediate access to the 1,500-lumen Turbo, holding for 3 minutes before stepping down to 408 lumens. Finally, a triple click gives you a strobe mode that it can hold for 2 hours—plenty of time during emergency situations. A shallow orange peel reflector produces a floody beam at any setting, with a useful spot area for focused illumination.

The T1 disappears in your pants or EDC bag thanks to an IPX8-rated aircraft-grade aluminum chassis that weighs 71.5 grams (2.5 ounces) with the included battery. The machined vent fins at the head and striped milling on the body give you a secure and comfortable grip for a light that’s easy to hold and operate. A magnetic tailcap also gives you options for steady mounting during use.

Finally, let’s talk about that new finish. This Dark Green anodized version of the Thrunite T1 blends well with an outdoors-themed EDC kit, or provides a nice and interesting visual break for an otherwise black and metal themed EDC. Either way, it stands out with its unique hue and classic outdoor look. A bi-directional clip that keeps this light secure in your pants or bag pocket, or the brim of a hat, rounds up the package.

If you’re looking for a compact, functional, and potent EDC light that won’t break the bank, this could be the one for you. Plus, the limited outdoorsy colorway gives you a special highlight piece that can elevate your entire kit.
