Nothing piques the interest of the EDC community like an exciting new knife. Ever since the prototypes were showcased at SHOT Show in 2019, the CIVIVI Odium drummed up the hype thanks to a sleek design penned up by the brothers of Ferrum Forge. The Odium was made as a production version of their iconic Mini Archbishop model. With production under the CIVIVI, it maximizes its opportunity to be bear the trademark functionality and aesthetics of its designers, while offered at a reasonable price.

The CIVIVI Odium is a compact flipper knife that’s pocket-friendly at 3.54" closed and comes with comfortable and grip-enhancing G-10 scales over skeletonized locking liners. The scales are rounded and contoured, differentiating it from the flat panels on the original Mini Archbishop, and offering better purchase for a firm grasp during serious knife work. The choice of high hardness (59-61 HRC) D2 tool steel for the blade provides a tough, wear-resistant edge that’s practical for hard use scenarios.

A small, jimped flipper tab whips out the 2.65" blade thanks to the smoothness provided by caged ceramic ball bearings in the pivot. You can also use the thumb cutout for slow-rolling the blade out to keep things discreet. Once out, the flat grind and drop-point shape provide a robust tip and enough belly to deliver good piercing and slicing performance for your everyday cutting tasks. The 2.25" cutting edge gives way to a forward finger choil, allowing you to firmly grasp the Odium for precision work and for hard use, despite its smaller size.

The neutral handle shape combined with the contoured scales and jimping on the spine does allow for other ways to grip and hold the knife. This turns the CIVIVI Odium into a compact knife that’s not just a joy to carry, but to use as well. The brand’s trademark logo features on the show-side pivot, and a reversible, tip-up pocket clip completes the look. At 2.5 ounces, this knife disappears in your pocket until it’s ready to work. It's small, but it cuts really well. I'd definitely recommend it. Civivi is always great quality.
