BLANK FORCES Pocket Tanto Knife

It’s no secret that we love our knives here at Everyday Carry. But a compact knife that combines premium materials, incredible craftsmanship, and an addictive flip-opening with a Samurai blade-inspired design? Now you’re speaking our language.

BLANK FORCES delivers just that with their new Pocket Tanto–a compact, fun-to-use blade perfect for everyday tasks like opening packages/letters, scraping, or poking and prodding. The word tanto comes from the Japanese word for “short sword.” The Pocket Tanto’s design takes inspiration from these ancient Japanese blade shapes, which is apparent in the angles and faceted faces of the blade itself.

Crafted from highly durable and premium Böhler M390 hand-sharpened to a razor-sharp edge, the Pocket Tanto’s 1.5” blade stays sharp much longer than the average knife blade. It rides on a ceramic ball detent, making it ride smooth with every deployment through its thumb cutout or flipper tab. When you’re done, the blade tucks into a grade 5 titanium framelock handle in either textured titanium or woven carbon fiber. The result is in an ultra-compact package 2.6” long and 0.37” thick, with a weight of just 1.4 oz for the titanium version, and 1.2 oz for the carbon fiber variant.

These small dimensions make the Pocket Tanto easily slip into your pocket or bag. You can also attach it to your keychain with its integrated titanium loop. Its compact size makes it better suited to more precise cuts than a bulkier pocket knife and also friendlier for local knife laws.

The titanium version features a vertical line texture on the show side for added grip, while the carbon fiber option is lighter and features a stunning depth to its design, with a reflective effect against the light. We can’t decide which one we like more, so it’s probably a good idea to get both, especially with early backer pricing from BLANK FORCES’ already-funded Kickstarter campaign.
