It's a big EDC market out there, and tons of awesome gear is released all the time. We made The Drop to help you discover the latest and greatest essentials worth a spot in your EDC.

In an era before watches had GPS, Bluetooth, heart rate monitors, and stride measurements, many of the world’s most dedicated athletes relied on one tool watch to help them improve their performance: the Timex IRONMAN. It was so ubiquitous in the 80s and 90s that we’re pretty sure you’ve owned one in your lifetime, or knew someone who has. One of the most popular variants was the IRONMAN Flix, notable because of its bright colorway, 100-lap memory, and Timex’s room-flooding Indiglo display. It hasn’t been available to buy for quite some time, but thanks to a limited-time collaboration with Huckberry, the iconic Timex IRONMAN Flix is back, and it’s just as cool as we remember.

The Timex IRONMAN Flix was popular for three simple reasons: it was affordable, shock and water-resistant, and simple and easy to use. Its core feature remains refreshingly uncluttered by today’s standards. It features time, date, a 100-lap chronograph with lap and split timers, 100 meters of water resistance, and the Indiglo night light that activates with a simple flick of the wrist. That’s it. And before you start wondering if you’ll need an app on your phone to sync it with, just remember that this watch was good enough for top-level athletes to compete in one of the most demanding endurance sports on the planet. It’s one of the most analog digital sports watches you can buy today. We never thought that sentence would make sense, but here we are.

What we like: The Huckberry x Timex IRONMAN Flix brings us back to simpler times, and we’ll take as much of that as we can get.

What to watch out for: Priced at $110, you’re definitely paying a premium for nostalgia.

Final verdict: Accurate, highly legible, comfortable to wear, extremely durable, and easy to use, the Huckberry x Timex IRONMAN Flix does away with function distractions, which might just be exactly what you need to take your athletic performance to the next level.
