We’re curious to hear what EDC item you have on your wish list for 2020 and beyond, as well. Read on to hear our picks and let us know yours in the comments!

CountyComm Titanium Precision Screwdriver Kit

Bernard, Editor-in-Chief: With the pandemic putting all my travel and outdoor recreation on hold, my EDC wants have switched more to tools for tinkering or completing projects around the house. My general EDC has screwdrivers in it but not a dedicated bit driver, so the TPSK from CountyComm caught my eye. The full titanium build, knurled body, ball-bearing swivel top, and magnetic tip check all the boxes for me. Combined with my specialty bits from my iFixit Pro Toolkit, the TPSK would be a nice-to-have upgrade for my retro gaming refurbishing hobby.

Chris Reeve Knives Sebenza 31

Mikey, Managing Editor: Ever since I saw the combination of a McGizmo Haiku and a Chris Reeve Sebenza about a decade ago, they’ve been foremost in my mind as grail pieces for EDC. And after going on a tear for flashlights this year including finally landing my own Haiku, it’s time to set my sights on the Seb. Titanium scales, top tier S35VN steel, a price I can save up for and swallow, and most importantly, a left-handed option out of the box make the Sebenza 31 an ideal knife in every way for my needs. I’m not the biggest knife person on the staff, but I figure when I end up splurging on one, it’s for one of the all-time greats. I still can’t decide between the Large and the Small, though.

Kaweco Liliput Fireblue

Jonathan, Staff Writer: As the WFH life transitions back to the (new) normal, I’ve come to realize that my old strategy of sticking towards the cheaper end of the fountain pen spectrum doesn’t always feel the best. There’s something to be said about having a nice metal pen in your hand as your write, but it’s important to not sacrifice too much pocket space to that endeavor. That’s why I’ve had the Kaweco Liliput Fireblue in my sights for a while, featuring a compact and slim design that fits in a pocket while providing a great writing experience and looking great (especially in this hand-blued steel colorway) at the same time.

Garmin fēnix 6 Pro Solar

Kevin, Brand Partnership Manager: As we’ve gone through 2020, staying active like I’ve done in the past has been a challenge with gym closures and capacity limits. With a recent move to Colorado, I found myself with the Rocky Mountains in my backyard and plenty of options for hiking on the weekends. The Garmin fēnix 6 Pro Solar comes in 3 sizes and features a Corning Gorilla Glass DX face making it plenty tough for my needs. The Fenix 6 Pro Solar includes ABC Sensors to watch for incoming storms and the ability to pre-load trail maps to help keep you on course. Add in all of the features such as activity tracking, music, and the ability to sync with my phone make the Fenix 6 Pro Solar my wish list item for the new year.

CRKT Squid

Gabriel, Staff Writer and Video: Many people have stopped buying new knives to add to their EDC since they can’t really go out anymore. The pandemic hasn’t affected my EDC in that way since it isn’t legal to carry knives where I live in the first place. However, just this year I started to make my own collection of knives, even before the pandemic, and that wasn’t going to stop me now. I don’t have that many knives in my collection yet, and you don’t get that much variety in my country. So when I found out I could get the CRKT Squid, I was pretty excited. I see it recommended everywhere and I’ve been looking to try it for myself for a while now. It’s affordable, it has a great shape, good materials and a good size as well. Not to mention I find its aesthetics quite appealing. So, to really get my collection going, I think the Squid is going to make a fine first addition next year.

Amsler Knives Hurricane Razor (Glow 2049 Edition)

Jon, Social Media Manager: Confession time: as a relative newcomer to EDC, I’ve never actually owned a standalone knife. But if (or more likely, when) I do decide to introduce one into my daily loadout, the Amsler Hurricane Razor (2049!) would definitely be in my top options. It’s beautifully designed; you can feel the care and precision in every curve. It’s slim and light, treading the fine line between a discreet carry and an eye-catching statement piece. Plus, the connection to the Blade Runner films excites the movie buff in me to no end. On its own, however, it is still a great looking knife and one my future self would be proud to EDC.
