It’s a big EDC market out there, and tons of awesome gear is released all the time. We made The Drop to help you discover the latest and greatest essentials worth a spot in your EDC.

You never truly realize how much of an impact a good pen can have on you until you start using one, and for the uninitiated, the Bastion G-10 Bolt Action Pen is unlike any other pen you’ve ever used. Not only is it the lightest pen ever made by Bastion, weighing only 0.65oz (roughly the weight of a standard AA battery), but it’s also made from high-grade G-10 material, known for its strength, durability, and resistance to moisture, chemicals, and temperature changes, and a material more often found on hard-use knives, not pens.

The G-10 Bolt Action Pen features a unique bolt action mechanism that mimics the action of a rifle. To extend or retract the pen tip, slide the bolt up or down with your thumb. It’s a fairly addicting mechanism to play around with, but it also provides a secure lock that prevents the pen from accidentally opening or closing in your pocket or bag.

The design of the G-10 Bolt Action Pen is sleek and elegant, with the G-10 material providing a textured surface that gives it a refined look and feel. The texture also improves your grip on the pen, making it easier to write with precision and control. This version of Bastion’s signature pen comes in black and gray, both of which are neutral and versatile enough to match any outfit or occasion. Its built-in pocket clip lets you attach it to your shirt, jacket, or notebook for easy access.

What we like: G-10 isn’t a material you often see on pens, so appearing on an enthusiast pen is a welcome sight. It’s a new way to experience an everyday writing essential if you’ve only ever felt it on your knife’s handles.

What to watch out for: The Bastion G-10 Bolt Action Pen has an SRP of $125, which could be difficult to swallow for some. If you act soon, you might still catch Bastion’s limited-time offer of $98. Of course, being their flagship model, Bastion offers the pen in many other varieties, including more affordable options.

Final verdict: A unique spin on a popular material that gives a whole new writing experience to your daily jotter.
