It’s a big EDC market out there, and tons of awesome gear is released all the time. We made The Drop to help you discover the latest and greatest essentials worth a spot in your EDC.
Cloud Defensive may be a familiar brand for those looking for the highest tier and most reliable lights in the business. Their bread and butter is illumination built to take a beating while attached to the heaviest firearms platforms, but they make pretty rock-solid EDC flashlights as well, which we’ve featured in our best EDC flashlights guide. Their latest light brings big features to an even smaller platform: the Chicro is one of their smallest and most affordable lights, but still packed with the features you’d expect from a useful modern EDC light.
It’s designed to be an admin/inspection light, in a form factor that’s easy to pocket and handle, and with simple and efficient usability all around. You get two modes—350 and 35 lumens—activated via a rear tail clicky with momentary and constant on, and powered by a 10440 rechargeable li-ion battery, which is rare in itself for EDC lights. Even better, Cloud Defensive have included a built-in USB-C port for onboard charging for the ultimate convenience. A reversible pocket clip wraps up the Chicro‘s features, and that’s it, dead simple with nothing to get in the way of a useful light any time you need one.
What we like: Everything you need from an AAA-sized light, and nothing that you don’t. The price point of $49.99 is also very reasonable for the power and features you get.
What to watch out for: If you’re a tint or feature fiend looking for the rosiest beam or Andúril levels of customizability, this might not be for you.
Final verdict: 10440 lights are rare and good ones are even rarer, so this is an easy recommendation.
