There are hundreds of multitools in the EDC market today—some basic, some downright ingenious in design and functionality—and the GT-1 multitool stands firmly among the latter. As the first product launched by Niche Industries, founded by professional designers Derek Cascio, Aaron Double, and with design contributions from Smithsonian Channel’s Mike Davidson, the GT-1 takes a bold leap forward with its unique folding form factor that integrates 12 essential tools into a compact, pocket-friendly design. Made from durable O1 tool steel, its arms connect via a hand-machined 385-grade brass pivot that doubles as a quarter-inch bit driver, allowing for L-wrench and T-wrench applications, with the pivot’s incremental markings transforming it into a protractor for angle measurement.
When closed, the GT-1 becomes a large flathead screwdriver with a nail-pulling notch, and its open arms reveal both large and small flatheads, hex wrench, wire stripper, and chamfered edges safe for TSA-compliant carry. This ingenious design of the GT-1 multitool currently lives on PledgeManager with a pledge starting at $48 for deliveries in December 2024.
