The story and purpose for gear can come from the most interesting places. In the case of Aer’s latest backpack, the Lunar Pack—it meant looking up to the stars. This collaboration with fashion and style brand Ministry of Supply takes inspiration from the PLSS (Primary Life Support System) of a NASA space suit, and similar to the system it’s based on, the Lunar Pack is designed to house your most important essentials for EDC. From tech to travel it’s got plenty of thoughtful features to cover your bases for your next voyage (and beyond).

The Lunar Pack shares a lot of similarities with a modern everyday daypacks. You get a 22L main compartment that opens flat to give you optimal access to the space, a top handle for quick grab and go, and a dedicated 16“ laptop compartment for your tech essential. But as an Aer bag, the features don’t stop there. They’ve given the Lunar Pack four exterior quick-access pockets including a padded top one for more sensitive gear like your phone. On the inside you get three interior zip, mesh, and elastic compartments for organizing gear that isn’t already in a packing cube or pouch. There’s an extra grab handle on the side as well as a luggage pass-through on the back panel for travel duties. And last but not least, padded shoulder straps offer comfort and utility with a removable sternum strap and D-ring attachment point.

Many of the hallmarks of Aer’s bags form the core of the Lunar Pack’s materials and construction. It uses a lighter 1200D CORDURA nylon weave compared to the usual 1680D, but still makes use of YKK reverse coil and AquaGuard zippers for each of its compartments, as well as Duraflex hardware for the straps and buckles. Even newer Aer additions like the front geometric stitching design, a zipper garage for the top compartment, and the new soft woven lining interior make an appearance on the bag. It’s a familiar design to the brand, while still offering something new to set itself apart.

The Lunar Pack was designed with the prompt of “a one-week trip to the moon,” and while your everyday excursions may not always take you as far or as high, the bag itself is more than up to the task of your daily missions.
