The Drop: Bubba Goose Duffel Bag Collection

It’s a big EDC market out there, and tons of awesome gear is released all the time. We made The Drop to help you discover the latest and greatest essentials worth a spot in your EDC.

Even the best duffel bags for everyday carry tend to be heavier than a smaller sling bag or backpack. That’s because you use duffel bags to carry lots of gear for travel, adventure, and everyday needs. But some duffel bags are made differently. Take the Bubba Goose Design Duffel collection, for example. These stylish duffel bags are made with lightweight laminate reinforced with Kevlar, a unique material that makes even the most spacious bag in this collection weigh only 1.1 pounds. That’s a fraction of the weight of similar bags and lets you shoulder a heavy load without being too cumbersome.

As a collection of bags, the Bubba Goose Design Duffel is available in three different sizes and weights. It starts with the 1.1-pound and 34.26-liter capacity Large. The Medium weighs 1.0 pounds with a 23.81-liter capacity. And the smallest bag tips the scale at a mere 0.8 pounds while still providing 11.35 liters of valuable space to carry your gear inside.

Each Bubba Goose Design Duffel bag is hand-sewn in the United States in Seattle, Washington. The lightweight yet durable laminate synthetic fabric is further reinforced with 1000D DuPont CORDURA nylon handles and straps. That reinforcement should give you confidence that you’ll be able to keep a handle on this bag even when loaded to the brim. And the extra-large YKK #10 zippers will endure years of consistent opening and closing without fail. There’s an exterior Velcro patch area for easy ID and customization. And the bag has two zippered pockets for quick-access items while you’re on the go.

What we like: The laminate construction of the Bubba Goose makes these some of the most lightweight duffel travel and gym bags that you can EDC today. The white and grey aesthetic of the bag’s design also makes it an attractive piece of kit to look at (and you didn’t hear it from us, but a black one may also be on the way).

What to look out for: Being a duffel bag, these designs are inherently unstructured by design. You can use internal bags and pouches to segregate and organize your gear and clothes.

Final verdict: This is your chance to pick up a duffel bag that doesn’t weigh a ton before you start loading it up. It’s made of the same lightweight yet durable laminate Kevlar-reinforced fabric that’s become more popular in the EDC community over the past years.
